Ferguson ted20 not running well on tvo

Hi, my ferguson ted20 runs really well on
petrol, but when I change it over to tvo
it struggles to run, miss firing and
nearly stalling, so quickly have to change
back to petrol. Does anyone have any ideas
please

Engine needs to up to full operating temp with all heat shields in place engine must be hot to function on tvo. . if you are just puttering around try mixing one gallon of petrol with four gallons of tvo but try to keep the temp up.

TVO... is that some kind of vegetable oil?

I'm far from an expert on the subject but from what I understand the oil needs to be heated before you can feed it into the injection pump. Unless it has been processed into biodiesel by having the glycerin extracted.

It's in the UK, Tractor Vaporising Oil, Same as what was called distillate here in the states, and used in carbureted engines, not diesel injected engines. The engine must be started on gas (petrol) and thoroughly warmed up before switching. I understand one of the grades of jet fuel is close to TVO.

Here are 2 recipes for TVO from FoFH site. The equal parts for heavy work and the 2 to 1 for light work.
1 petrol and 1 heating oil comes out at 59 Octane
2 petrol and 1 heating oil comes out at 72 Octane

Several grades of jet fuel can be burned in place of diesel as well . The old Cummins manuals list what grades of jet fuel you can use some grades you have to ad engine oil to the fuel for lubricity .
