ford 4400 rear end

I want to change the hydrolic fluid in the transmission and rear end on my 1974 ford 4400 . I can see the fluid level plug on the left side of the trans. as you look from the front towards the back. I don't see any thing like that for the rear axel. does the trans. and rear use a common sump so there is no fill level plug on the rear. in other words , when you fill one with fluid you are actually filling both the trans and the rear, and when the fluid starts to run out of the plug both are full ?

DeltaRed is right... you spent the money for a tractor, spend another $25 and get an owner's manual.
To get you going, here's a shot from the 2/3/4/5000's owner's manual. A 4400 has the same rear axle as a 4000. Transmission and rear axle are separate sumps. Can't tell you how many quarts it will take, as that varies, depending on if it has live, independent, or no PTO. Somewhere around 30-35 qts.
Generally, left and right on a tractor are given as viewed from the seat... the level plugs are on the right side of the transmission and rear end.

Hmmm... picture didn't load. Try again...

I have the manual , and all it shows is what you posted. so if your photo shows the fill plug for the rear axel, where's the plug for the trans . or like I said is it 1 sump for both. :?:

This is the check plugs on a 3000, trans plug is in the same place on your 4400, rear axle check plug is like in the other photo or in that general area.
