I passed the final electrical inspection on the garage today.
I added a second a second 100 amp service in there off the existing meter socket and just added the second wire to the original lugs.
No deal. I had to buy a new meter socket as each conductor has to be tightened in individially.
So I finally got around to changing it out today. Power company disconnected me this morning and I had the new one in in about an hour and a half. Inspector has to call for the power co to reconnect. Then he went through the garage and finaled the rest of it.
This stuff isn't hard but you have to deal with the bureaucracy, get permits and inspections, and schedule the outage, etc, etc.
Turned out to be a nice day to do it too. About 36 degrees and sunny.
Passed!

It is worth a try, LOL. I added a sub panel in my barn which was on just one 15A circuit. I don't recall the amps of the sub panel but it went through the correct sized two pole breaker in the main panel, so I didn't need an electrician.

Not true! Had THREE different inspectors out to look at a panel/wiring in a house we used to live in. All Three failed it for different reasons - none of which were wrong - and they all corrected the last inspector. Finally called the State, and THEY sent an inspector down. Everything passed. Then, 6 months later, the county comes calling to inspect because the state inspector who passed it had retired, so they figured he just zipped through his last inspections (unwarranted). Everything was buttoned up by then, so not much to see. To top it all of - the original work was done by a licensed electrician who used to be the inspector for the county! Petty infighting at it's best (worst). Had one inspector come out to see if I had put in a ground rod. Got a notice in the mail that stated "FAILED: NO GROUND ROD PRESENT". Trouble was - her footprints were in the ground, straddling the rod! Stupid AND blind....
I could go on....
Electrical inspectors are the worst - even if it is PERFECT to code, they find something wrong to satisfy their own whims. Very few are worth the paper their certification is written on.
Sorry, you might be different, but that's been my experience...
