What are you guys doing for winter projects?

Well as title says, As the cold winter sets in. For me the big one is a Case DC which I got started on early due to bad weather. Next up few things on the house, administrative and paper work too. I am sure there will be other stuff, but also looking forward to some slow time!
 
I will install new stained glass in top half of dutch door and refinish a door for the entry of the new house.

With the crops off, I just finished moving a dirt pile, which has been here nearly 11 months since preparing a building site.

Year end tax planning/spending.

Will be doctoring to see if I can get rid of joint pain.

Fertilizer spreading and chisel plowing are possible depending on the weather.

I've got an old forklift in the shop for a valve job. The same friend who owns that wants me to rebuild a Cub basket case. I'm not looking forward to that.

I need to split my AC 175 as the "power director" won't stay in high.

Hope to leave this wretched climate for a while to see grandkids in NC.
 
First is do a little design change on my Cressoni chopping corn head. Then rebuild the transition box I have for taking grain out of bins. I try to get to my two Granddaughters hockey games(average 3 per week) Some of the weekend tournaments involve hotel stays in cities far away. I have coffee with wife for an hour and half every morning, then afternoon coffee with the guys at the corner station. I'm embarrassed to say I probably only get in about 3 hours of actual work a day. Usually watch Judge Judy every afternoon in the winter.

Finish a fergusom te20- my first tractor i ever had. Then find out why i cannot shift my oliver 880 and look over the hydraulics on it. Oh and replace my fuel tank in my f250. Be nice to have 2 tanks again.
 
I had a 101 SR. Very smooth, powerful tractor on my sawmill.
Will be looking for more posts about yours.

Helping my son partially restore a 1951 CAT D2. Old pads on new aftermarket rails and even rubber pads onto the steel pads so he can run on the pavement???
 
I need to give my right arm a rest so I can go to Florida this winter get Fishermen's elbow.

Weather has pushed back construction on pole barn. I would love to start wiring, making work benches, shelving and loft. That may be a spring project.

Need to have two dying trees removed if it ever stops raining and ground drys up.
 
The continuing house remodel saga...

One interior door, finish the hardwood trim, and paint the guest bath.

Replace the last of the windows in the kitchen.

Eventually a new roof, maybe next year.

Then it's done!

Time to start over...
 
Cedric ..... I think the Seniors had a Continental 226 six cylinder engine. Not sure if a Chrysler would bolt up or not.
 
Dads 4020 is in the shop now getting a new hyd pump. I may try to figure out how to rebuild the shifting drum. The 4230 duel tank is leaving, 4250 needs a new a/c line, 4840 need a cab kit and the 8430 has an oil leak. The 9500 and 7720 both need a good inspection.
 
No, the Chrysler motor (6 cyl) was only used in 101 SUPER, the 101 Senior used the Continental 6cyl!!! Any of the early continental 4cyls used in the Massey Harris 81, 20, 22 or 30 would bolt right in your junior, those motors were the 124, 140 or 162 cubic inc!!! Think you?d run into a few problems trying to get the longer 6 cyl to fit my in place of the 4 cyl!!!!

I plan to retire around Jan 1. I've had this 550 with the motor stuck since 2016, going to get it into the small garage that's heated and start tearing it down to rebuild. It's

Adding pressure transducer and tach cable sensor to display ftlbs, rpm, and horsepower(calculated). Adding data acquisition module to capture, save and chart test data. It?ll be a WiFi hot spot so I can look at the data remotely with a smart phone or an iPad. That?ll be handy when making timing and carb adjustments under full load. (I enjoy instrumenting old equipment.)
 
Engine swap on a Ford 1841. Got a good start on it this weekend.
Once the engine swap is done, then the verification and testing begin.
I hope to have it all done and painted by mid to late summer.

I thought of that. Then the pressure could automatically adjust to maintain PTO at 540 rpm. Unfortunately, there?s not enough room to conveniently mount a gear or sprocket on the throttle shaft for servo control. Maybe I?ll give it more serious consideration after I get the rest of the project operational.
 
Since winter has been here almost a month already, I've been working on the 52 Merc installing a much better right front fender in place of the rusted one. Did a little work with the wire welder although I'm still learning so nothing fancy. Looking at installing the good used gas tank to replace the plastic boat tank in the trunk of the car.

Got a 40 Cockshutt that is getting a 3400 Hercules installed for pulling. Make the swap easier with a 35 tub.
 
We have a house to build. Owner and architect been working on it over a year that I know of, put it out to bid in Sept. We finally got okay couple weeks ago, foundation is started (under snow now) and they want it done ASAP of course. So much for tractor projects. Same thing last year, only started in Oct.
 
Finish rebuilding the deck on our Toro zero turn mower. Rewire at least one, maybe two of my H Farmalls, maybe transfer the loader from one H to another so I can restore the one the loader is on now. Strip my trailer down, have it sandblasted, paint it, rewire it to current DOT specs, and put new wood floor on it.
 
Gotta get myself back in shape before I pursue any projects. Had a triple bypass on 11/20 and I haven?t felt like doing much since.
 
Good friend of mine had same thing on about same day. Had his at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. He is recoup in rest home. Are you at home? They have him walking 1 mile a day.

Given some health issues I have been putting a cab on my JD X585 for winter plowing. Basic Cab was pretty straight forward, accessories has taken a lot of time, and the interface to the hood was poorly done so I am redoing some of that.

Then my 4320 needs a new hydraulic pump and completion to a fender conversion. Maybe a clutch.

Case-IH 145 Rollover plow needs wear parts gone through, some replaced.

I would like to do a bunch of TLC on my 4250 if time permits.

Going to remove the sediment bowl on my '60 JD and clean the screen in the tank. My devout adhesion to procrastination has now run out (4 months). An excuse to heat the shop and get dangerous gas fumes everywhere. Fortunately the tractor is sitting over 'in floor' heat.
 
Here in California winter doesn't slow me up much, except when it rains. I do have a few projects before next spring. One is my JD 401 heating problem, I am sure it's a plugged radiator. Then a oil leak at the lift arms where they connect at the differential. I have a Woods mower that needs a gear box replaced with a used one I bought a few years ago. My tractor hauling trailer needs two new axles with brakes that work. Then I have my ongoing motorcycle projects to work on. Stan
 
Repair gas tank on Case VAI.
Replace ring gear on JD A.
Replace 2 more bearings in Farmall H transmission.
Rebuilt JD 350 sickle mower.
Replace pan gasket Husqvarna rider.
Reseal valve covers on Bad Boy ZTR.
Reassemble Briggs motor.

Look for a new job because the place I worked at for the last 9 1/2 years closed 1 Nov.
 
Been home a couple of days. Had me up walking the next day but I don?t think I?m up to a mile yet. Just got to do a little more everyday. There are some fine folks at St. Thomas, Nashville. Helped me through a very scary situation.
 
Regrettably sitting in a hospital ward waiting for the neurosurgeon. Ruptured disc has me on my back. After the surgery , my Doctor can buy a new tractor , maybe two.
 
Am sure you will be able to find a job, 9 1/2 years sure should help prove your dependency and willingness to
work!!! Good Luck definitely a tough time of the year to have that happen!!!!
 
Best of luck to you, that road to recovery can be a steep one at times but now you have the problem repaired you should start feeling better soon, we don?t heal as fast as we did when younger but you will heal!!! Good Luck to a fast and complete recovery!!!!!!
 
I'll start with some repair to the manure spreader I got yesterday. Just needs some small work to be good. Then my haying equipment will get attention. The hay rake and mower need rebuilding and the balers need some work. Will also be adding power steering to my 400. If there is time I'll pull one axle off the 1030 to repair the leaking rear end housing.
 
I don't have much personaly other than finish the 2020 jd I started this year! Job wise I need to get going on the last GMC, should look like the other one I did this year when done, nice thing is I get paid to do it!

First on the list is the 1850, it has been in the shop for a month already. Completely torn down due to almost every bearing in the transmission is bad. I knew the input shaft bearing was bad but it spiralled from there. Also going to paint it and install fuel tank fenders. I doubt it will be done by spring, but I am hoping for next fall.

Next on the list is go thru the other 1800 it will have to replace the 1850 for now. Fix the known issues. Have injection pump rebuilt, rewire the whole tractor and replace the steering motor.

Replace bearings in the 252 disc and also replace tires on it.

The other big project is to get the other forklift going. The mast leaks, it needs a tune up. Also may need a clutch and brake work. This machine is a little larger than our old one. It has a heavier lifting capacity, a side shift and larger pneumatic tires which should be better on the stone and gravel. The one we use now has small solid tires and gets stuck very easy. We use that thing almost everyday, it's like a Swiss army knife it has a million and one uses!

Other than those things, work every day. There are also a few projects around the house I would like to get done. Also going on a cruise in January with the wife and some friends. I'm looking foward to it, I have never been on one.

Have you seen any of the YouTube videos by Jeff Bradshaw at Redneck Restorations? His work doesn't quite have the same end result as yours, but the medium is often similar, he loves those late-50s GMCs! His ultimate truck (The Find) is what I think I would like.

As for my list:

Finish cleaning/storing all current equipment
Replace art least 75 broken wooden line posts in the vineyard, six to eight end posts, and 50+ metal line posts, along with probably 30 broken wires to mend
Reinstall hydrobooster in IH grain truck and get it on the road
Get the other three-point arm off of my 4430 and rework both of them
Reinstall cab and accessories on JD 5500N vineyard tractor
Plans for a new pole barn for shop and storage, possibly

Air shifter on my KTM motorcycle . Custom made nitrous spray a 16 shot for each cylinder [about a 20 horse nitrous shot] Take bike to track.
 
I have two restoration projects underway. In the small shop is a Farmall F-14 completely torn down. Right now the crankshaft is at the mechanic's getting one of the journals ground down a hair. In the larger shop I have an Allis WC that is getting an engine rebuild. After those get done, I have a Case VAC and an Oliver 60 waiting their turn.

Making enough firewood to get me through Christmas and playing with a 7.3 idi turbo truck that needs an engine all preferably before knee surgery on the 23rd of Dec.
