I got done last week, friend wants me to dry 100 acres of 32% corn. got a continuious flow dryer don't think I can slow it down to get 15% corn. have to run it through twice to get it dry, anyone else dry that wet? all my corn was 18-24% not a prpblem

Not in a continuous flow, but we used to start at 30% back in the day in a recirculating batch. Didn't always mix well tho.

done it before in my circuflow in bin grain dryer no problems just took little longer but never been around those type units. me personally would not go there, what he going to pay you etc, take it elevator and be done with it , its only 100acres

The old dryer we had would do it but I can't speak to all brands. Check with the area elevators to see what they charge per bushel and price accordingly. If the corn has to be handled twice then maybe a couple of extra pennies per bushel for that.

In Ontario, there is a lot of corn coming off at that moisture level. It can be dried in one pass, but a careful eye on the exhaust temp is needed so it does not get singed. We have a much bigger problem here, though...The railway is on strike and that has stalled propane shipments. Lots of driers shut down, waiting for propane, lots of corn still in the field....and heavy winds rain and snow forecast for tomorrow...not good.

15,000-20,000 bushels? I assume it is going into a bin instead of going to town if he wants you to dry it. Drying it down that far and handling it that may times to get the job done will result in a lot of cracks and fines. It's hard for the fans to push air through a lot of fines in a bin. Does he plan to feed this corn through the winter? If so taking a little out of the bin at a time will help keep it in good shape. If he plans to keep it for long in the bin he will have to watch it. He might want to push a pencil on this. Might not be any more expensive if he takes it to town wet if they will take it in town.

I can?t imagine drying corn that much. Feedlots crack and pack that stuff. I have left it in the fields until March to avoid drying costs.
