International Case Manitou Forklift

Hello, I just bought a forklift supposed to be an International Case Manitou Forklift 4500B? the one shown. Wondering and hoping someone has more info for parts sources on these somewhere? I was surfing forumn and found a guy from 2017 in archives that said was built on a IH 444 tractor frame or an MB-C frame whatever that means. I have lost 1rst gear and need a clutch in mine but my diesel 4 cylinder engine was rebuilt years ago and runs VERY well. Any idea how and where to find parts on these things.. also what year ya think this is.. 1970 maybe? or how can I identify this machine possibly? Serial numbers? This machine is in way above average condition besides the issues I mentioned. Any help would be awesome. Thank you, Lewis

Not sure why pictures are turned!

I'm surprised he didn't call it an "International Case Manitou John Deere Oliver Massey Ferguson Allis Chalmers Deutz White Cockshutt." Jeez louise, did you have to put on hip waders from all the BS that was coming out of his mouth?

It's just a Manitou that someone put International stickers on.

As far as finding parts on it, Manitou still makes machinery, though as old as that is, I would not hold out much hope of finding new parts for it at a dealer.

This is an International 4500B. Other than the overall layout there is nothing even similar about the yours and this one:

Not an expert, but the gear shifter looks like that for a 444 type tractor, your 4 cyl diesel is likelly a BD154.

I'd bet Manitou used an IH skid unit to build it.

Welcome HotHeadz!

I'm not real sure who made it, I would say Manitou is the place to start.

There should be a capacity and dimensions tag somewhere within the view of the operators seat. It will have a model and serial number, possibly an attachment number. There should also be a serial number stamped in the frame, usually an obvious place, look near the right front wheel.

As for the clutch, those are somewhat generic. A good truck/equipment supply should be able to match it up.

The transmission, won't know until you get in there. Could be something simple like a broken fork, or as bad as trashed gears. I would look into that first before buying a clutch.

There are a lot of aftermarket forklift dealers online. Most only advertise the most popular brands, but have connections to a lot of other resources. Start calling, you might get lucky. There are also lift truck salvage yards around the country.

But try to find some numbers first. It will need to be identified before any parts suppliers can help.

Hi folks, as jimb2 said after being involved with Manitou forklift trucks from 1973
I hope to tell you about them. My computer is at my works office and I have to go to
collect parts now I will reply to you later today or tommorow with a fresh post.

Hi folks Iam back, in the town of Ancenis Marcel Braud made his first Manitou
forklift truck in 1958 based on a French built Farmall Cub tractor. It quickly took
off and over the years using French built IH skid units and in 1972 they were
intrduced into the UK. From 1973 they used the UK built IH444 tractor with the 8
speed transmission and the forward nd reverse gearbox and the heavy duty clutch.
The machine was known as the MB25C with a liftig capacity of 2.5 tons and this was
superceded by the 2.6 ton MB26C IN 1982. This is the machine in the photos that Hot
HeadZ as just bought and you IH men will reconise the Bradford built tractor parts.
I started selling Manitous in 1973 for an IH tractor dealer then in 1982 I started
my own company selling used machines. in 1989 I became a Manitou dealer selling new
machines and that lasted till 2009 when manitou changed their marketing polices.
Iam still in buisness at the age of 76 carrying out service and repair work on all
ages of machines with one engineer who has been with me 24 years. Now to the
missing 1st gear take the pin out holding the gear lever in ith housing then line
the three selectors up in a line and refit the gearlever. Hope I have given you all
an insight to Manitou fork lift trucks. MJ (Michael).

(quoted from post at 03:39:59 11/22/19) Hey lay off he asked questions, no reason to
flame others.

You talking to me? Only person I'm flaming is the guy that sold HotHeadz this forklift! If you read my post I was speaking *TO* HotHeadz about the guy selling the forklift...

The guy had no idea what he was selling, so he just made it up as he went along...

The only International parts on that machine are the stickers.

I was under the impression that the French company Manitou bought the old Gehl farm equipment manufacture .
We have a couple of 4WD Manitou forklifts in Site and they do well enough .

Yes B&D Manitou did buy Ghel but I do not know why as the have had a presence in the
USA with a depot in Waco Texas for a long while. If you have any problems with your
Manitous my engineer Steve will soon pop over and fix them for you. MJ

(quoted from post at 09:52:26 11/22/19) No barnyard you are wrong the engine, gearbox and rear axle were all made at the IH
factory at Bradford here in the UK. MJ

Ok, that's unexpected and I bow to the expert on this, but I contend that the stickers still do not belong.

These forklifts were built by Manitou using IH "skid unit" tractors presumably. Neither IH nor Case had anything to do with the design or construction of the overall machine. IH provided engines and transmissions. Case wasn't involved.

It is also not a "4500b" model. IH built the 4500b themselves.

Hello, Thanks for all the Great Information and Chewings! Here is an update... First off I have no idea why when I post pictures the forum turns them. they are not
turned when I download them from my phone to PC..but sorry for that. At the bottom is information on disc, rear seal and speedy sleeve for rear main on engine.

I Found a disc online (ebay), exact replacement, below is pressure plate part numbers, exact one but had mine rebuilt 265.00 at Herbert Heitmans in Houston. shoulda
had disc rebuilt also but already bought the new one on ebay for 100.00. It appears the IH B414 thru 434 is a good base for parts ordering. I found most everything I
need. We have finished the clutch and did a rear main engine seal and speedy sleeve, works very well now. Transmission had been opened prior pretty obvious and
mechanic missed 1rst gear fork.. easy fix.. 1rst gear works perfect now. 1 Bad hydraulic hose on front.. very minor, most are new already. Brakes are weak, thats my
next repair but all in all the machine is really pretty solid and performs as it should. We are relocating the muffler for noise reduction now and like I said will do
brakes next and more than likely seals in brake area. Also fuel cell was leaking and needed pretty extensive welding but is all good now. If anyone can help with brake
parts that would be great but I will open them up and more than likely send them for reline also..

The Machine is defiantly a Mutt.. IH running gear, Manitou Weight and some sheet metal layout. Mostly its a IH from what I have seen and found. I do not see any
resemblance of the 4500B for sure. Even has red painted wheels and behind fuel cell so it was surely sold as a Manitou in my opinion.

Hi Bill, 45 years of experence with Manitou fork lift trucks and telescopic handlers 35 of thoes years with my own business. The machine in the photo looks like one of the MB-C range of machines using an IH 444 tractor skid unit. If so the engine will be a BD154 diesel engine as used in the IH 414,434 and 444 tractors. the transmission will have a forward and reverse gearbox in front of the 8 speed tractor box. If you require any further infomation I will try and help you, you can call me on Lincoln

Good morning from Texas, Hope all is well Sir. I am needing brakes for this machine. I would like to buy all necessary components for a proper brake job prior to tear down due to space restrictions in my humble little shop. Any advice on part#'s or where to buy perhaps? Thank you in advance.
