Brush guard

I used all my 2 inch box tubing.
I elected to bolt it together. Easier

Than cutting a weld if I decide to make changes. I also don't want to weld it to bucket.

All I had to buy was $6 of bolts from Rural King.

A brush guard is to prevent brush or logs from coming over the bucket. I made forks.

This a pic of terramite

Lifting brush, sticks. You can see the need for a brush guard.
The Kubota has a higher lift and the last thing I want is to have something roll over the bucket and come after me.

They look like wide bar industrial tires like we have, they're much tougher than ag tires. I have over 1100 hours on our JD and the only tire trouble is 2 broken valve stems. They were brass for adding ballast and I replaced them with rubber ones, which should be better for my use.

I buy bolts by the bulk at RK. I have many nuts and washers on the shelf. So all I had to buy were bolts, Some 4.5 and 3.0 inches.

Loren,
You are the master when it comes to building things.
I'm just a redneck. Many things I build are proto-types which will be modified as needed.
I used 1/2 bolts on the main sections. I was also concerned about weight and removing it from bucket in one piece.
I may someday weld it together and remove it with the terramite's bucket. No way can I lift it welded together.
I really think what I have will be better than 44 inch wide factory forks.
My one terramite has 48 inch bucket, other has 54 inch bucket, Kubota has 72 inch wide bucket. The wider the easier is will be to balance logs on forks. I also have a way adjust width of forks to be less than 72 inches.

Two bolts each side. I made it at right angle to bottom of bucket. I can change easily chance angle if needed.

If I were to get rid of one, this would be the one. If you're ever in Terre Haute, I'll let you play a compost pile. Then you'll see you need one.

That said, the Kubota loader with stall guard and the HST is in a totally different league. The backhoe on terramites are safer to operate inside a roll cage and seat belt. Kubota your outside, no ROP. Not sure if they had seat belt.

Not a bad plan. Years ago I arrived at a friend's house and there was his 301 Deere pinned down by a huge steel V beam. It had came off the back of the forks and landed over top of the steering wheel. He was lucky to be alive.

Geo. It looks like it is designed to fold easily down sideways for storage. Like Loren said it needs a diagonal or two.

what you did looks fine I used to do that way also, but normal loader buckets and brush reall do not seem to work well together, I final gave it up and went to a root rake grapple BEST THING I DONE. bought one I had for less than what I could get steel to build one. it not only allows me to carry items safer but I can also use it to clean up area and its all closer mounted so rear weight is way less of issue, I now have it on skidsteer, good luck and be careful trees are widow makers you know that. I am selling my tree shear if you would like one of those.

Showcrop,
Always easy to recommend modification
without seeing it in person.
The vertical piece bolted the bucket is
heavier guage 2 inch box tubing. You
could hit it with a 12 pound sledge and
its not going anywhere unless I unbolt it
from bucket, then it will fold up for
storage like you said.
