"[i:c755923681]No safety chains! He's not using the safety chains!![/i:c755923681]"

Good grief! His hitch system looks about as good as his bedliner. I can't even imagine how someone could do that to a bedliner.

If I spotted that mess going down the road, I'd have to call it in. He has NO RESPECT for the lives and welfare of other people on the road!

I actually did call in that Star-55 number or whatever it is, one time, and finally up ahead were two troopers pulled up in the cross-over aisle, waiting. Seems to work.

Probably doesn't want to be attached when that mess fails
looks like the tongue would dig in quick and deep.

According to Mdross and many others here if it works for a trip and the real DOT doesn't stop you there is nothing wrong with it. As long as you are careful that is all the matters.

I thought the purpose of a gooseneck vs bumper hitch
was to transfer weight in front of rear axle vs
behind?

John,
Lets say rules don't apply, however if you sell something that is faulty, causes an accident doesn't the rule of deep pockets apply?
The law firm of Dew-we, Cheatem and How will be tyring to get their hands in your pocket.

eah, I see the problem.....safety chains need to be hooked to tail gate handle!

That complete 360 degree directional change in the hitch assembly is designed to add more weight to the front axle to increase total load capacity.--------- or maybe not?????

Geo,
You make a good point BUT that doesn't look like something that was "sold" to someone else. It looks more like someone's poor attempt at redneck engineering.

He probably just did it to yank everyones chain and its worked...You couldn't get away with that for very long even with an empty trailer..

Been thinking about this all day, there must be a reason for this.

Finally think I've got it...

That is probably a camper, got his wife and mother in law inside.

The extra spring effect gives them a smoother ride so they can sleep and not complain!
