JD 2460 Hydraulic Question

I have a question about the hydraulic system on my JD 2460. I had a hose start spraying out fluid. It is the small hose under the tank above the pump. Not a big deal to remove. My question is how much pressure should be on the hose. It looks like a low pressure connection, it is just held in place with a couple of hose clamps. I removed the side covers and started the tractor, so I could locate the leak, and fluid sprayed 10 to 15 ft. Is this a simple remove and replace on the hose, or is there another problem?

I would likely say it failed from age and is likely just a simple replacement. Be sure to get the right hose. It looks like heater hose, but it needs to be oil service rated hose. Heater hose will get you by for a time if you need to move it, but it won't last.

That is an oil seepage return line from the high pressure seal on the front pump.
The line sometimes becomes blocked with age, kinks etc on it s way back to a small port on the transmission case .
A new line and good to go.
Always make sure the transmission screen is clean, the transmission oil filter is regularly replaced and only Hy-Gard oil is used .
Water in the oil from condensation or leaky shifter boots . Or the wrong kind of oil will ruin the wet clutches and the wet brakes .
If there is a loader on the tractor , the oil should be returned via a ported filter cover .

It was an old hose, it just seemed to be a lot of pressure behind the oil that came out. I want to make sure that it was normal.

I interpreted you were talking about key#6, sorry if that is wrong. The TY22563 is the JD part number for their bulk hose to make it from. I have had to replace a couple of those in the past.

Trying again on the photo.

I think I still have a nos #8 in the pic on my shelf,, I stocked those as I had a few smaller Deere's that I worked on that had them and the dealers for some reason did not stock them,,
