Numbers for Geo and found out something

First off, I ran fuel flow numbers for Geo.

Idle .7 GPH
In gear 4.5 GPH
About 15 not on plane 7.5 GPH
About 33 MPH @ 3500 on plane 9.5 GPH
About 40 MPH @ 4000 on plane 12.5 GPH
Full out 52 MPH @ 5000 on plane 18 GPH.

Also found out what I thought was 25 gallon tank took 27 gallons with 3/16 left, time to check the manual.

Thanks. I would have thought that doubling the speed would do more than double the fuel consumption. Didn't think about have to go fast enough to get the boat on plane.

Enjoy your time on the water and be safe.

The under plane speed consumption is surprising!

I always thought that would be way higher with such a heavy engine load.

My ski boat was rated at 60 hp. I bought it with a 75 hp. The added weight was counter productive. We could go through a lot of gas real fast pulling a skier.

I guess the boat we had was pretty efficient, but it was small, a 1985 16 1/2 Larson with a 115 Evinrude 2 stroke. It would only burn 3-4 gph pulling skiers, a little more pulling tubes. Used to ski a lot on the Mississippi North of the Sartell Dam.
