Ferguson Engine

I have a Harry Ferguson, was told it was T030 with a Z-129 engine. Thinking about replacing engine. Anyone know where I can get a replacement?

(quoted from post at 14:35:27 09/30/19) What is wrong with yours? Post on the Ferguson Board, someone can help you.

Long story, I had a guy supposedly go through it, that is, overhaul, about five years ago. He kept tractor about one year. I finally called him and told him I was going to pick it up in a week ready or not. He called me a few days later and said it was ready. Paid him. Used it two or three times then I heard a loud backfire. Took head off and gasket was blown and two bolts were broken, as if twisted too tight. Tractor has ben sitting since. I guess I could have block checked for compression. Maybe all I need is a new or redone head (not mine). Advice?

Don't know of any place that sells rebuilt engines for those.

Buying a used engine is highly risky.

You can pull it out, tear it down to the short block, find a machine shop willing to rebuild it, or DIY with the help of a shop manual, have the machine work done, reassemble it. I have no way of knowing what kind of work was done, but if it were mine, I would take it all the way back down, check everything just to be sure.

They are simple engines, but have some quirks and problems to be on the look out for.

Common engines, parts still available, lots of knowledgeable people on here to walk you through it.

Location might help.

check with jasper engine rebuilding. they can rebuild your present engine. they have a division that does old engines.

So, maybe all you need is to plane the head, get some new head bolts and a gasket and your good to go! How did the bores look when you pulled
the head? Did it get water in it and sit that way? You should pull the pan and check underneath too.

The Z129 Continental engine was used on a number of tractors. If the broken bolt shanks are sticking out of the blocks it should not be too difficult to remove them. The nuts may have been over torqued. The head and block should be checked for flatness and the sleeves checked for excessive proudness (projection above bock). Hopefully you drained both the radiator and oil pan and did not let it sit. The bearings need to be checked for damage and the valve timing checked to make sure there is no interference.
The Continental engine blocks were prone to crack.

I think a Continental Z134 engine might also fit, but don't know.
