Metal roof over fanfold?

Getting bids to build pole barn. One guy puts trusses on 4ft center and uses fanfold as moisture barrier.

What's your opinion of fanfold?

If it is the same fan fold I'm thinking of it has tiny slits in it so I do not think it will be a good vapor barrier. I have seen them with a bubble wrap type stuff and Mine have a white vapor barrier that has some sort of fibers weaved into it.

Mike a metal roof may not happen. Very good price though.
Neighbor had metal installed over shingles and fanfold. I don't think that's a good idea. Too much room for flexing.

Contractor is figuring bid with 35 year shingles and translucent panels under eves.

Going to build a 30x40x14 ft. A little small but taller so I can make storage space 7 ft high and be able to park my dream tractor if I ever find one.

trusses on 4 foot is fine with metal roof but your builder is behind in times, get your tin with built in vaper barrier it works great, amish built my last barn 60'x100' machine barn two years ago it doesn't drip any water

George we have used it but a much better product is micro-foil. Last two I built we used foil on both sides and it is noticeable cooler, and no condensation . Several 40 year metal roofs here on this farm still in excellent condition.

It wouldn't do much for insulation. It would probably stop the condensation problem though. I would rather use metal building insulation.

Fanfold insulation would be the least of my concerns.

I'd want to see a drawing for those trusses signed off and sealed by a licensed Professional Engineer stating that they they will support your local snow load with a four foot spacing. (Your local building inspector will want it too.)

What's he using for fasteners: nails or screws?

What size are the posts? 4x6 or 6x6? Solid or laminated?

Laminated posts.
Insurance agent told me as long as the pole barn is built like most in my area, the insurance company has no code on construction. However, all buildings in my county has to pass building inspector. So I have no concern as far as type of materials used.

My concern is putting metal over 1/4 inch foam fanfold.

IMO you are wasting money these days buying shingles. My high dollar 35 year ones are not going to make 20.

Last time I checked a metal roof warranty only covers color fade. Might be wrong tho. What does your warranty certificate say?
