what kind of oil do you all use in the transmission. calls for ep 80 but local store didn't have any ep oil. thanks

The EP is for extreme pressure. I believe all gear oil or at least good brands are ep rated. I use 80w90 in my dads D17.

EP stands for "extreme pressure" additive, 80 is the viscosity.

Most modern SAE gear oils have the EP additive.

You really need a GL spec to get the proper additive level.

GL-1 is the straight mineral oil, no EP additive. Not what is recommended for your application.

GL-2 through GL-5 each have progressively more EP additive.

Depending on what's inside the transmission determines the additive level. If there are no wet clutches, wet brakes, or yellow metals, go with a higher GL rating.
