After WW1 surplus equipment was released on the home market causeing a surplus and economic downturn. At the end of WW2 much
equipment was buried at sea to prevent a similar problem.

My father in law served in the Army during the Korean war and after and one of his assignments was to ride out to sea on a barge in Alaska and push surplus D8 cats off the barge into the sea using a worn out cat.

If I am not mistaken that is one of two they fished out in russia. Lend lease tanks. The way the Sherman SHOULD have been built was like the Firefly at the end of the war. Got a big enough gun. A b,,,,h to load and could kill the loader but was big enough to put a hole in a german tank. The regular sherman shells just bounced off. The whole thing is these guys restore them!!
