Sediment bowl replacements

I'd like to replace a leaking sediment bowl on an Oliver 550. Is brass a better choice over plastic? I cannot seem to find those old time brass shutoff valves but there are lots of those plastic ones around. Any experiences or pictures that anyone can share would be appreciated.
Thanks

I have given up on sediment bowls. I replace them with a 3/8 ball valve on the tank, and a Fram G2 in-line filter.

I second that. I use the in-line filter and an in-line plastic ball valve and haven't had any problems. Both are held in place by hose clamps, so easy to replace if I need to change either of them out.
