What width belt would be best for this pulley.

5/8". Measure groove between flanges. don't want the belt to stick above the pulley,or to be bottomed out.Some where in the middle.

I would guess a B belt. Let us hear from the experts.

yes, so it drives by the sides of the belt.

update, 5/8 x 40" works just fine.
for my 1954 TO30 Ferguson. Later model Massey/Ferg TO30
Is different. book calls for 13/16. I didn't think
that would be a good fit in my pulleys. Thanks !
