Pulling a International Harvester 2990 DA Out of Barn Help

I have been trying to pull a International Harvester 2990 DA out of my barn to display in front of my house. However, the wheels seem to be locked and no matter what all I try I can't seem to get the tractor in neutral and/or find another wheel lock there might be. Please take a look at the attached pictures and any help to get this tractor moving would be much appreciated!

looks like its stuck in the mud ,what are you pulling with ? big enough tractor or 4x4 just drag it

The Farmall F-20 you have is Going to be easier to move than to fix to move. jacking the rear end up and putting it on a sheet of 3/4 plywood, and pulling it
where you want it to be with a different tractor, or tow truck. Why not sell it, it looks fixable. Jim

That's a F12, not a 2990DA. Looks to be in neutral, so how cold is it where you are, If water is in the trans it could just be froze up. Shame, its got some good parts there. Those wheels are worth something.

(quoted from post at 14:54:13 01/26/19) Sounds like the brakes are stuck. Does the engine turn over? Can you rock it back and forth?

No the engine does not turn over. The barn wall prevents us from rocking it back and forth.

I have been using a 40HP Kubota. But the back wheels are locked and it won't roll. I plan on just using my F250 next.

The brake drums might be rusted tight. Was the tractor parked with the brakes locked?

The best looking display might be if you can pickup the whole tractor with a sling and carry it to its new location without changing the position any of the tires. Any idea what that tractor weights?

Here is the plan , find 4 good 2X6s about 12 ft. long. Jack the rear wheel up lay down one 2x6 then find something like small pipes , jack handle size. Place two to three on the board then lay the other board on top. Do the same thing to the other side. Now hook you KUBOTA to it and go, do not slow down. Thing is you will probably finish of those old rear tires if you drag it far but once you get it moving as I have suggested I think your tractor will continue to pull it. Shame you can,t get some air in the back tires , they might help.

Why don't you pick it up with pallet forks from the rear and move it that way. those old tractors don't weigh that much.

The most important thing is not to slow down. You want to have enough momentum to completely destroy whatever is seized up. Five yards and a cloud of dust.

I don't think it's in neutral. That has a H shift pattern but the H is laying down. Try nudging the shift lever to the left.

When I went to haul my grandfather's F-14 home my dad (who used it for many years) said it was locked up. No, it was just in gear and he had forgotten the shift pattern.

Do the rear tires hold air? If not I would not try to roll the tractor on those tires as it may be impossible to get the tires seated back on the beads again. For a static display, those rear tires look pretty nice as they are sitting now. Knocking them off the beads won't look better IMHO.

If you can remove rear wheels, may be possible to replace with something that can get you rolling again--looks like you have some wheels sitting around looking for a job. May be wobbly and not pretty but might get you to its new resting place. Then you can put the tractor wheels on again.

Looking at how deep the front wheel sunk in, she has sat there many decades!

Slipping plywood under the rear wheels and skidding it in place would accomplish what you want the best. As others say, it will wreck the rubber to roll it, if you did get it
to roll. Likely the brake drums will be locked up with rust, doesn?t pay to fix for what you want. Could be the axle or rear end locked up too.

Should have read further down. Others already said about the brakes. That hydraulic unit might have value.

F250 loaded full of firewood in the back~~~~DO NOT USE A CHAIN!~~~~~DO NOT USE A CHAIN!~~~~~
If you use a chain and that chain breaks, you will find that you have a lot of stored energy and that chain might just kill
someone. I remember a guy who got hit in the back of the head by a chain when it broke. He never was the same.
Use those nylon straps that do not store energy to such a high degree.

That tractor is way to nice to be using it as a lawn ornament. Please leave it in the barn, and advertise it for sale. PLEASE stop trying to move it BEFORE you do irreparable damage.
