Just wondering what the price range would be on a G with new paint and tires. Seems to run great but no one knows about any engine work on it.

Well, I sold an unrestored late model G a little over a year ago. It ran good, front grills were poor condition, hood good. All 4 tires held air, and that's it. Smooth as a baby's backside and quite weathered too. It had a charlynn power steering unit that worked good. I got $2200 for that one. It would have been very easy to drop another $3-4,000 into tires, body work, and paint if wanting it to look good.
A lot will depend on location. They can be pricy to restore. I have one but no intentions of selling it. Most folks seems to be saying old tractor prices have crashed. If it started and ran ok (no major noises) I would not be to concerned, as they are a low rpm engine. Do check the flywheel and clutch driver for looseness. Also check oil pressure.
Do you have a Smart phone? You can buy a bore scope / endoscope. Pull a plug and do an internal inspection of the cylinder wall.
Put a load on the engine and check the throttle response. Check the exhaust pipe for coolant smell and oily crap. Look in the radiator for oil and look in the oil for contaminates. If it has good power and does not overheat and you want it, buy it.

I see the one post below where one fella got $22,000 for one that sounded OK but nothing special. Obviously, whoever bought it from him must have really wanted it badly. Here are several for sale in the link below, average asking price seems to be around $5-6 thousand dollars and some of them look pretty good to me.

OOPS ..... my mistake, my eyes see $2200 but my brain sees $22,000 which should be telling me something .... Duh !!! I should have read it a bit more carefully. SCRATCH my other post ... ha !!!
