I have the 4440 on the bale unroller. I used it today and when I shut it down I noticed that it had leaked fresh engine oil from the block/intake joint at the first and second cylinder. A good cup of fresh oil where there have been no leaks at all. My first thought was of the intake leak I never knew it had (it has been here since the early 80?s and I kind of just remember it as nearly new).
The tractor ran just fine but my first instinct is that the turbo needs to be replaced as it?s getting oil past the seal and into the manifold. Am I on track here? It will roll 10,000 hours this week and has never had the engine or any part of it (other than the water pump and alternator) touched. I knew at some point it would go so I have kind of been waiting on it.
I parked it in the shed and plan to replace it in the coming week before running it again - I sure don?t need it running away on me if that seal total blows out. Looks like a new turbo will be a relatively cheap fix for it - assuming I am on the right track.
