2015 Ford eco-boost starter noise

Starter makes awful noise when starting maybe once a week,very seldom makes noise when dealer keeps for a week at a time, when it does they say they don't know what it is so can't fix it.just wondering if anyone else has had similar problem,

I guess I would take it out and take a look at it! Have they had it out? Have you asked them too?

Has your dealer talked the tech hotline or got a hold of the areas field engineer about your problem ?

Take it to another dealer, I remember our ford mechanic replacing several on the ecobust.

It is a known problem on the Ecoboost to develop cold start cam chain rattle noise. How many miles are on this truck, what type & viscosity of oil, and how long between changes? The cam phasers (VCT unit)can cause a rattle noise at startup too.

Are you sure it’s the starter? There is a well known issue with the cam phasers. It makes a noise at startup.
