This came with a heavy pneumatic press. Not sure what it does or if even belonged with the press. Anyone have a clue what it is?

Bearing splitter. Comes apart so you can slip it over a shaft behind a bearing and pull it off or press it off.

A bearing seperator, used one many times, both in a press or out in the field. The threaded holes are for puller rods that go to a strongback, with a porta-power jack in between, for field use. If you google it you will see many photos of one in use.

It's an OTC (Owatana Tool Company) splitter, made in Owatana MN. OTC makes a line of them and two and three finger pullers. They also make an extensive line of specialty tools for auto, motorcycle and truck mechanics.

One thing is Don't use an air wrench on it. Just use a regular socket wrench. My neighbor chewed the dickens out of the threads on his. Great tool !

Problem is you have to have a space in back of the bearing for it to fit into. Only time I tried to use one the bearing did not have room behind it for the tool to fit into.
