Don't forget, when you are all done grease those things up. Just so nice to start plowing and within 20 feet they are all nice and sparkling. Really fun when you can see your reflection.

No don't paint. JD did carry a special spray paint that was for putting equipment away so it wouldn't rust. Rust on a plow makes it a lot harder to pull till she gets all polished up. When I was a teen I used a wire wheel on a big drill and polished all of the rusty spots and joints were ever there was rust on the plow. That plow just settled in and tracked so nicely. About 1/2 a tube of grease would do the trick. Only thing that messed up my beautiful grease job was when the heifers broke the fence wire on the storage building. They liked almost all of the grease off it.

That?s why I use the special paint for plow bottoms . The last time I used grease the cows licked it all off

oNCE SCOURED WELL, i SMEAR GREASE ON ALL THE WEARING PARTS, THEN SPRAY A GOOD COAT OF cHEAP eNAMEL PAINT OVER THE GREASE...LASTS SEVERAL YEARS..

If rusty, I use a 4 1/2" angle grinder, with thin Cut-off discs..use it like it is a Putty Knife..( Have a Mask)..

Cleans all the rust off, right down to a black layer of Black oxide that scours really easy..

You will be glad you did...!

We greased the plow bottoms for years and even inside the grease did not last, heard about the paint and used it since and it works twice as good as the grease ever did., Just any old spray paint I had around.

Yes I did . I wanted to get all the life out of it
possible. It still doesn?t leak but I don?t want to lose
a day when it finally does go

Leroy, that is what I always did. Back up tp the door, go to the paint shelf and just grab a can or two that are under a half and use 'em up. I might have three different colors, but when they are shiny and if you put enough on the paint will last for three or more years. The key to it is to do it as you are coming back in before dismounting the plow, and it is waaaaaaay more likely to actually get done than applying grease.

Took the flap wheel to the 642 and took some rust off and and gave the moldboards a good shot of liquid wrench
