That would be a first gen Equinox. They are very good cars. Only prone to wheel bearing failures, as all GM cars of the era. Pretty good runners, have seen several past the 200K mark. Those have a solid Aisin 5 speed automatic.

Run Forest run. Not sure of the exact years but they had engine oil consumption problems. Dealership had to put new pistons and bearings in my daughter's at 72,000 miles. It was using a quart of oil every 800 miles with no smoke. She traded it at 120,000 when it started using again. BIL's made it to 102,000 before it started drinking oil. He swapped the engine and traded it. It's a known issue.

In that year range, many mfg changed the ring tension on the engine to use thinner oil, and improve fuel econ. Some engines like this one, and the Subaru 2.5L didn't get the right tension on the oil control and the rings begin to float in the bore. It is costly to fix. If the engine wasn't broke in right it will never ever have modest oil consumption, and within 30-80k miles, it will start high consumption as the bore glazes.

I would KNOW for sure what the oil consumption is on the engine, or keep shopping.

Get a Honda CRV and don't look back !

Guy at work has an equinox and he hates it. He is even a mostly Chevy guy.

You are mixed up. The V6 is reliable . The 2.4L four cylinder in the 2011-2012 era had ring tension problems .
Something as old as 2007 is the time to get rid of it , not be purchasing it. 12 year old vehicle of any brand is going to have a rotten body and need regular repairs .
Mrs B&D had a 2012 GMC AWD Terrain SLT for 47 months then a deer jumped out in front while the daughter was driving . Terrain had 195,000Km and the insurance company wrote it off.

Wife drives an 09 AWD V/6 we bought new, just turned 80,000 miles and been back two times for warranty work, one rear tire never got balanced new and a couple years ago a rear axle seal. I never liked the seats but it's been a good car. The problems started with the 4 cylinders in the 2010 models I think.

I have an 2006 Equinox that I would sell for about $500. New head gaskets, new front drive axle, mysterious battery discharging, etc. I would not spend much for something that old.

We had one. '06 or '07. Never had any major problems, but had many, many small, irritating electronic glitches. Dealer admitted they did not know how to fix some of them.
