273 Pickup Reel bearings

I have a NH 273. This summer the pickup tines were getting jammed every now and again. Got through 1st cut, would just spin the flywheel backward a few turns, reach under, unjam the tooth and finish baling. Happened once every few hundred bales...

Plan was to pull it apart and rebuild the pickup parts that need it. Figured replace the teeth that need replacing and the bearings at the end of the tine bars.
Of course that project feel to the end of my to-do list and got forgotten about...so baler jammed every 25 feet baling 2nd yesterday.
Went with the backup baler to finish the day.

Pulled up the parts diagram on Messicks while at my ?job?...and now I can?t, for the life of me picture it in my head...

I think the bearing parts I need are #?s 32-34 in the diagram? 2 per bar, 4 bars?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help, would like to get the stuff ordered today

Just realized I did not attach diagram

There are six pickup bars in a 273 meaning one cam bearing per pickup bar for a total of six also look at cam track to make sure it is not bad.Scott

Are you talking about the cam follower bearing? Is it a regular pickup or a super sweep? If it is the cam follower bearing you only replace them on the outside end. So you will need 4 for a regular pickup or 6 for a supersweep.
Part # is 40714 cam follower bearing same for both pickups. I bought 6 for my NH276 from Shoup last month.

Be very careful when installing thru the little hole in the side. DO NOT hold the nut near to the bearing while you tighten the outside nut. Hold the bearing in place with a big screw driver into the slot on the outside of the bearing. If you hold the nut on the bearing you will break the pinning and the bearing will fail. Voice of experience here.

after you replace the bad teeth and the cam follower bearings, it may be worthwhile to look at the RIGHT side of the pickup head and make sure the reel bearing on that side is ok or replaced as long as you are digging in to the pickup head.
