I've got a hesston 8200 that I'd like to try and charge the a/c. Does anyone know if it takes r134 or other? The valve on the compressor is more like a Schrader valve and not like the one on my pickup. Any help is appreciated.

Just go to a auto parts store and get a 134 adapter. Then fill it with 134A. A lot of people made a big deal about changing fluids. Pay no attention. Would help if you vacuumed it for 30min or so. Probably can rent the pump. I just use the hose with a gauge on it.

I will second it came with R-12 and just vacuum it out and recharge it with R-134. I have switched two of them around here. Both guys are smaller dairy farmers and hard up for cash. So I just fixed the leaks and vacuumed it out and filled it up with R134. Did not change a single thing. I told them both it more than likely would not last long. Well they both are going over 5 years later.
