For Those Who Couldn't Make It

Hello all! I just wanted to share with you some photos from the Albany, MN Pioneer Days show. A very nice show, indeed. Lots of large prairie tractors, and a good assortment of VERY rare tractors (GMC Sieve Grip, Gibson, Pioneer, etc.).. Also, I put together a show tour video for the show as well. I hope you enjoy, and I enjoyed running into a couple people I knew (John Auchmann, Wylie Christensen). It was a great day on Friday for the show - got to beat the heat that we are currently having here in MN. I hate to say it but I am ready for cooler weather.

Enjoy.

2018 Albany Pioneer Days

Ken C.,

Wow! A lot of great stuff at Albany. Thinkin' I need to convince somebody that we check it out sometime.

Love that big, rusty ol' Case, the other rust, the old Olivers, and the clear pic of Bull tractor.

Thanks for the pics. Will check out the video later.

I agree to that! There was a Pioneer in a
museum in Saskatoon I saw years ago....what
a massive piece of equipment! Drive wheels
were 12 feet in diameter if I recall.
Thanks for the great pictures
Ben

I like the look of the Pioneer in the first picture. We had one at Pontiac a few years back. I stood inside the back wheel and just could reach the top of it. That would be an 8 ft inside diameter. Big ole brute. Cool pics, thanks for posting.

Hey ken enjoyed the short little visit we had on Friday. Sorry I got to busy to find you something to ride on. You?ll have to come back next year on Saturday or Sunday. Then you can see most of the prairie tractors in action.

No worries, John! It was great to meet face-to-face, and my time was limited on Friday anyhow. We were back on the road by 2:30pm. I wasn't aware that they didn't do a parade of power on Fridays. I suppose probably because people are still showing up in the afternoon.

I'm definitely impressed with the show! I like when I can spend more time at one (since I spend so much time photographing and filming for others to enjoy)... More than one day gives ME time to enjoy them. Doing everything in a few hours really puts a crunch on me enjoying them to my full potential! But I still enjoy it!

I didn't get the opportunity, but there was an even more rare bird there - a Super H T/A Diesel! The diesel had a narrow front, but both tractors were very superbly restored. The gas SH T/A had a wide front on it as well.

Been thinking I should do that with my '42 H.. But then again, a 300/350 rear half won't be cheap - and neither will repairing the T/A, adding live hydraulics, etc. etc. etc.!

Yessir! there were a lot of large early prairie tractors there. I have more photos. Maybe I will do a "Part Two" tomorrow in a separate segment and post ALL the photos. But I have dozens.

I guess no one ever says no to an online photo show, eh? :)

Jim,

Yes, I took photos of most of the large prairie tractors that were in the show on Friday. A lot of the 'regular' tractors (JD, AC, IH, etc.) that were up on the hill are covered in my video that I posted.

It is a really great show! A very impressive swap meet. Saw a lot of things I WANTED to buy, but only spent $5 on a hydraulic control rod for my '42 IH H... Oh well, guess I got by cheap THIS TIME....

Yessir! There were a number of very nice MM tractors there! Out of all of the very rare tractors that were there, I didn't see a UDLX in attendance... But, a great show to hit, nonetheless!

I agree! I would like to go on Saturday - they are always peak days! I am sure I missed a good deal of stuff that rolled in Friday afternoon and evening. I really liked some of the Olivers they had there - the one Oliver 70 that was all original looked REAL nice just the way it was!

Yes! It is definitely worth the visit - maybe you could take a few weeks off and just do a MN show tour! :) Lots of great shows around here, with lots of rare equipment.

This show and Rollag are probably two of the better ones I have been to. I love Nowthen because it is so close to me, but it is great to get out and explore what other shows have to offer.

Yup! There were a LOT of great large tractors there. I will post more photos hopefully tomorrow in a "Part Two" segment. Thanks for the kind comments! Stay tuned!

Ron - you're very welcome! It is a nice show, and I will definitely be back!

36A - Sounds like a good candidate for a restoration! That cab looked really neat and well built.
