Really, why do people get their drawers in a knot over someone's choice of tractor color? Surely there are other things more important to fret over. Actually, I don't mind the color combo at all but even if I did, who cares?

Hey Crazy Horse, I?m not fretting about it and my drawers are okay as well, just posting some pics to pass the time of day, I guess if you don?t like the post then don?t bother to comment on it, but the guys choice of colors are tacky as hell, if he had chosen to paint it the correct colors he might get what he?s asking for it or at least close to it, he can paint it any color he wants as far as I?m concerned, but ugly is ugly.....

It was far worse during the 1970's when every old Ford was a possible magnet for a hippy paint job. Sky blue streaky finish with runs in the paint. And that is if it was lucky. I understand that battleship gray is not everybody's thing but maybe go with the blue and white or light gray similar to the world tractors starting with the 5000.

Its just something to talk about, Crazy Horse. That's what these forums are all about. If you don't want to talk about it, fine.

Not trying to pick here grayrider.....but read what you wrote. It belies your claim that all you are doing is passing time and that the paint job does indeed annoy you.

How about we all just relax a little. Ain't your tractor so what does it really matter?

Rick

OK Grayrider, from now on if anyone disagrees with a post, we'll make a rule that you can't comment on it. That'll be a lot of fun !!!

Crazy Horse, I can't see why you would even open a post when the topic obviously bothers you.

Paint job does not annoy me, I just posted that it?s ugly as
crap, evidently my post of an ugly tractor seems to rile some
feathers here, no worries though , I won?t post again as I?m
getting out of old vintage iron. I?ve other interest in life too
besides old tractors of which I?m fixing to liquidate, looking at
buying a brand new tractor in the next few weeks and going to
sell a John Deere 420W, two Ford 8N?s, a Ford 2N, Ford
5000, Ford 4000, Ford 601, Ford Jubilee, International Cub,
and a Ferguson TO30, wanting a 60+ horsepower tractor with
a frontend loader. With hunting clubs looking for tractors right
now for food plot work I hope to sell several of them ASAP
and in the coming spring part with the rest of them when
gardening season starts and folks get their income tax refunds
back, have enjoyed this forum but it?s time to bow out.....

I seen this tractor today, it is sitting in dealerships lot, located in Long Beach ms, exit 28 on I 10 , I looked over while driving by and thought what the heck is that, I have a ford 860 and was thinking why would someone do this lol

It's his tractor, he can paint it any color he wants.
But he's trying to sell it that way, which detracts from it's value.
Besides the color scheme, he didn't do a very detailed job.
Painted the belts, hoses, steering and shifter boots, exhaust, etc.
What he really did is make the next owner a lot more work to
clean all that paint off so it can be painted correctly.

OK? Don't annoy you? Then you keep saying "it's ugly as crap"? Sending mixed singles there......

Thing is it's his tractor......maybe now someone else's. How they paint it is up to them. Only time it really makes a difference is if someone paints it up to sell as something it isn't. Like painting a 9N like and 8N then trying to sell it as an 8N. Heck, wanna see me get a good belly laugh? Paint either an IH like a JD or a JD like an IH.....then watch people get mad over the paint. heck if I found a tractor I wanted, in good condition at a fair price I wouldn't care if it was pink with purple polka dots. I can always repaint it if I don't like the colors.

Or if they bought it to work they can just run it like it is..........

Rick

I'll buy something like that and run it,of course after I've bought for cheaper than it would normally sell for because the paint limited the number of people interested.

When I was younger I did a lot of body work and vehicle painting to earn extra money.

Had a guy who wanted me to clean up the rust and paint his Chevette for him.

Took him down to the paint store and had him go through the color sample books to choose the paint.

Everyone has there own taste so I don't care whatever they choose is what I spray.

He came with his girlfriend to pick up the car when it was done and was she ever pizzed off.
The color he picked was the same bright lime green some waste disposal companies paint their dumpsters.

It was then she said to me didn't you know Pat is color blind.
No I did not know this, turned out most of the samples he saw all just looked like a muddy blur to him but this sample in his eyes had a clear look to it so he picked it.

Wouldnt be my choice on a Jubilee but it may be a huge improvement over what ever may have been left of the original paint... not everyone is a collector.. some just want a clean working tractor and some paint is better than none.
