New Holland Model 65 made a 12x14 bale. There are a few still around.

The farmer should get $3 or $4 for that, which is still very good for what it is. But then someone had to do a lot of special handling to get them shrink wrapped, labeled, and distributed. That is not the kind of product that can be bought in quantity, palletized, stored, and shipped - a lot of "after the farm" (post-production, so to speak) work went into making it marketable.
