Since we started guessing the weight of the silage with the gauge it?s saved a lot of leftover silage waste. I?m using a microwave and digital
scale to check the dry matter on the forages periodically to make sure the weights are correct. According to the gauge guesstimate and dry
matter test were getting 80 pounds dry matter per cow not counting ration into them easily. There?s rarely any leftovers and anytime I try and
boost them up they almost always leave any extra over that I offer so I think it?s fairly well tuned. Thanks to JD Seller and others for suggesting
the gauge. It wasn?t very expensive and it?s saving a lot of feed and I know I?m getting plenty into them.
