Bought welder at the tractor show

Here's what I have. Most of you probably know more about it than I do. Here's what I know: It has an Onan twin cylinder engine, key start, should generate electricity and welding current if it works. That's about it.

I've parted with $25 of my hard-earned money to get to this point, so even if it just turns out to be an extremely heavy door-stop, I'm ok with that.

I have one just like it, owned it for about 30 years. nice AC machine to weld with and I
also use it for thawing frozen water lines.

I have the original owners manual for mine.

I paid much more (150) for a nicer looking one at an auction. Got it home, didn't seem to have any compression (it was electric start but no battery, so you couldn't turn it over at the auction). Took
out the spark plug (Tecumseh engine), looked down the hole, nothing. Took the head off, and the thing had thrown a rod and the seller had removed the rod and piston. Even thoughtfully put used oil back
in it, show it showed OK on the dipstick. Grrrrr...

(quoted from post at 15:12:52 09/13/18) It had fresh gas in it, and it turned over.
Did you see what the round baler sold for?

A close encounter with a YT-er! No, I didn't see what the baler sold for. A lot of junk there and what DID sell was going cheap. I was the only bidder for the welder, started and ended the bidding at $25. Surprised no one else jumped in. I did see the sad old Farmall trying to find a new owner. Needed $600 and no one wanted to cough up that much.

I have only had one Onan engine and the is in my Wheel Horse tractor and it is doing good, no problems.

nan engines are good engines, but I have been hearing a lot of complaints about not being able to get parts for anything over 5 years old.

And when you find the parts, they are expensive.
