Allis Chalmers Parts

Where is everything going here? Believe this or not, I have a friend that has boxes of parts for them, and nobody wants them. Guess that tells me something. But I don't plan to stop collecting

Having just gotten into trying to make the two WDs I have more mechanically sound in the past 2 or 3 years, I have been generally pleased with parts availability and prices (granted there are some things that scrapyard parts is about the only option, or the odd part or bearing that seems nigh impossible to cross reference or Agco wants $$$$$ for). What kind of parts does he have? General tractor parts? Specialized implement parts? Or a little bit o' everything?

I don't know exactly what he has, but my guess its old OEM tractor parts.

We would need more information to tell you if the parts have value or not. I would think most OEM parts would have a value but it may not be what one would think. The market value of many of the popular AC tractors has fallen just like the common IH and JD ones have. So if the parts are for a WC or WD they would have value but not a high value.

I agree you, but the point of my post was really to comment on how things are changing in collecting, I have seen other posts on the subject

Has he advertised them anywhere? Ads here and on the AC page would bring a response. Also what part of the country is he located people around that would buy them all.

Often those "boxes of parts" are odds and ends left from dealer auctions. Not many people need the "auxiliary fan belt pulley" from some old combine or the bracket for some seldom ever breaks part. If he has NOS gauges or other sought after tractor parts, the only reason he still has them is he hasn't tried to sell them, or he wants a wicked high price for them.

Not sure at all what he has, other than he inherited all these parts from a serious Allis Chalmers collector that past away that admired him, but he is a IHC collector

From what he has told me he advertised CL, not sure where else, but yes, probably good if he advertises in the AC collector magazine

He missed a good chance to try and sell parts at the recent Gathering of the Orange event. Serious OEM parts would probably find a good home and move as fast as they ever could there.
