Security Cameras

I need some security cameras but do not know where to start other than hiring a security company.

I am looking for about 4 maybe 6 cameras.
2 inside and 4 outside.
I would like motion detected still shots
Night vision with no flash
On board battery and SD card so I do not have to run any wires or have a separate recorder
Maybe 50 to 100 foot detection range for the outside units

I know game cameras would fit the above but wondered if that is my only option.
Thanks.

We have ?Arlo? security cameras, currently have three, they send live video by text message to my wife?s and my cell phone when activated. We like them so far

I have Nest Cameras run 24/7 have a two week memory, Infrared see in the dark capabilities. Can be assessed from any computer with the password 3 cameras were $500 and the memory costs
$16 month.

I have several HF wireless cameras. The touch screen panel is okay, but a little difficult to get it right on the center joystick touch panel when it comes to playing recorded images if you have knobs for fingers. It does both photos and video. The problem with most of these is range. They all say 100 to 300 feet wireless range outside. Good luck with that. Some may actually do this, but I don't have the time or money to test them all.

The cameras need a power source. Either 110 or battery/solar panel to power the 9 or 12 volt requirements depending on make.
There are some video cameras that have built in SD card recording in addition to wireless capable recording and they have motion sensor built in.

Trail/game cameras are best, but need to be checked. Some have a built in video screen that gives live/recorded review. Others you have to bring a portable viewer or take back to the house. Some are true infrared light, others are deep red light, but can be seen at night.

If I could afford one I would get the live feed or 3g/4g linked cameras that either go wifi to router or direct to a cell tower. Some you can call up and view recorded images/video.
I don't have specific information on these.

I have a system made by defender that I purchased from Home Depot, comes with 4 cameras, with night vision, will support 8 cameras, also can monitor via the internet if one wishes to... under $500.00

The AGCAM brand is very highly rated. A few years back Successful Farming magazine had a comparison of about 4 brands and AGCAM was their favorite. It's more expensive than many out there, so it will depend how much you want to spend. The nice thing about going with a brand like AGCAM is that you can continue to add on after the initial purpose if you choose to and it will all be compatible.

It's been too long since I've bought cameras - too many new 'goodies' and probably more "technological" than I like.

For me, if it stores the images on the camera, then it ain't worth crap. Why? Well, even the DNR and Game Wardens don't put trail cams out anymore. Too many times the suspect will find and take the camera. If they can get a cell signal, then they will try the kind that sends pics AND stores them - then the suspect doesn't know the pics are already in the hands of the authorities.

I'm old-school. I'm not into all this wireless stuff. Then again, we live where there is splotchy cell signal at best, and where cameras need to be sometimes 2,000' away. Only way I go is to have cameras hard-wired. With that, I trust that the signal will get through and the recorders will catch all the video.

As for cameras/other electronics that have a battery, keep in mind that they are engineered to use as little power as possible. So they're not likely to have the night-vision range of a "powered" camera.

It's overwhelming all the choices out there these days. I hope you find what you're looking for.
