In Muscle Shoals, Al today, new one of Rural King tractors, made in S. Korea, final assembly in Ohio and Fla. Serviced (?) at Rural King. Good looking tractors, priced low.

Just finished watching your video below. I am jealous, whose grin is wider, his or yours? Come on up, give me call.

My wife was grinning behind the camera too! Hopefully next time we are up that way we can sip some sweet tea on the deck at your place!

Dummy here, what exactly is Rural King, is it a chain outfit like TSC, never seen a RK Store, we don?t have them in Lower Bama

I see they have Yanmar engines, that's what we have in our JD4600, and we have over 1000 hours and it's been bulletproof. and I like the 12-12 power reverser transmission, and like it.

Never mind, did a little research, looks a lot like a TSC type business. Doubt we will ever have a Rural King in the Deep South, TSC has the market cornered in central and south Alabama and NW Florida, just about every little town has a TSC

Some of those imports like that have been orphaned when they had too man problems and the sellers drop em. Like the prices but I'd be afraid of one till they been out a while.

They are in fact made by TYM. Comparing their specs to the competition, they look to be ready to go head to head. They are not new, just not very popular.

So many stores have made store branded tractors; then quit selling them before the warranty period has gone by.

Tractor might be good, but it will be an orphan in 5 years, no support.

Perhaps it is the same machine the fishing and hunting stores were selling for about 5 years?

My friend with horses bought a new YTM over a year ago. He
discovered the tractor is only as good as the dealer. His dealer
is over 40 miles away. He regrets buying the tractor. He has no
way to haul tractor back to dealer.

I can't imagine RK having qualified mechanics to repair
anything.

Much is made these days of the fact that new equipment can only be serviced by a dealer. Where will you go for service when your dealer is a store that mainly sells pet food, blue jeans and candy?

Not in the market for one, just noticed it and the prices. The pamphlet just mentions having it serviced at their store, makes no note of repairs except parts availability within 24 hours. Not in the market for one, I prefer orange or grandpa love yellow, ha.

Friend of mine bought one at the Litchfield Il. store. Water pump went out. We don't anybody to work on it, but we'll get you the parts. Pump showed up within a month. Gasket came 2 months latter. That store and the other one here don't have them anymore. The only reason he still has his is because nobody else wants it.

I was surprised that they located a RK near here, lots of tsc stores around. They Rural King store is several times larger than the tsc stores. In this one, they moved into a old Walmart, and they have lots of inventory.

If nobody buys them because they're "waiting until they've been out for a few years" not having any dealer support will be a self-fulfilling prophecy, so the few that do will be left high and dry.

Haven't made it by there yet as I live near Richmond, but they have two stores in VA, Radford and Front Royal. But the other posters are right about TSC, they are building stores here left and right. Then for a lot of farm supplies, there is Agri Supply in Petersburg.

How many years ago was that?

I looked into these just trying to see who actually made them and how they can be so much cheaper. It appears to me that they lack a lot of the features that most companies have such as quick attach loaders and such. Now you may say you don't NEED it or you can PUT UP with that if the price is cheaper but when you add in all the extra stress you hear about zero support from the stores then it's a big turn off. I guess its just how it goes. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

You probably will. Typical Rural King is larger than Tractor supply stores and will usually put the TSC to shame. Rural Kings mode of operation is find a closed Wal-Mart or existing building to keep cost low. They are in deep south in Florida and will move west as time comes. The tractor thing is another story. This will be the third time they have tried tractors. Actually the fourth form some stores. They tried chines futon for a period years ago, that was a flop. Limited stores like 7 or 8 tried marketing Massey Fergerson for a short 2 year time. Selling tractors without service and parts is a short lived affair. They have put out a lot of hype this time about how they were going to have parts but still a TYM tractor and limited parts support.

Almost all the tractors I own and farm with have little or no dealer support as most of the companies that built them went out of business years ago.No quick tach loaders either.
I've found the old saying "You get what you pay for" is sometimes true sometimes not but a lot of times "You can get what you don't pay for too" as very good machines can be bought for far less than their sum of features and usefulness.

Didn't know they had the store in Radford,I'm about 60 miles from Front Royal but go that way pretty often.Wish they'd build a store towards central VA,have a TSC store about 5 minutes from me that's pretty handy.

Been my experience with older tractors even if the dealers have the parts they are so high priced it wouldn't make sense to buy them anyway. There are dozens(hundreds?) of aftermarket
parts sources on the internet for most anything these days, even World Wide I've bought parts from England for my David Brown tractors a lot cheaper than buying them here in the US and the shipping is surprisingly reasonable.

Why does he need to haul it to the dealer? If it's any good he shouldn't need a dealer or parts, regular maintenance supplies are available online. In the 17 years and 1086 hours we have had our JD/Yanmar it has never been back to the dealer or needed parts other than oil and filters. I think Yanmar is going to be around a long time and if RK drops them parts will be available from many sources.

He had less than 400 hours on tractor. Still under warranty. He had many rounds with dealer trying to get the AC repaired. Poor dealer service.

It took forever for dealer send someone to look at it. Service tech said he need a new AC compressor. I discovered compressor was good, he needed an new idler pulley.

Instead of waiting, we took idler off, pressed out the bad roller bearing, went to town replaced bearing with a better quality and he got back to work. Heat index was in the 100 and it was a cooker inside the cab.

AGAIN, DEALER NEEDS TO HAVE A GOOD SERVICE DEPT.

TYM has been making ag machinery for about 50 years and uses engines made by others. They have been in the US since 2004. They are the largest maker in Korea. My Mahindra is TYM made with a Daedong (aka Kioti in the US) engine. It's been very good for the four years I've had it.

I?d guess the main difference is the equipment like me and you run is it was made to last and there are many parts available including the dealer and aftermarket and used. But if you buy something like this tractor what do you end up with in ten years maybe a pile of scrap ?

Well I figure any of those type tractors sold today if I had one and ran it like I do some of my older ones they'd probably be a pile of scrap(plastic) before the 10 years was up(LOL)
