JD 6300 hydraulics

I use a 3pt side arm ditch mower on my 6300. Always a bit of a

The hydraulic hoses need to keep constantly pumping so the three remote levers for the arm / head will move. Usually no problem but the last couple times have been tough. No matter what I do the hoses pop out. Sometimes when I engage the hydraulic handle, sometimes when I engage the remote levers to move the arms/ head.

There are adjustments on the valve bank, it looks like. Piston and the other is a set of gears. What should it be for constant pumping. Also speed / flow control.

On the other side is the loader valve. Also a dial and when this is turned o loose loader control or three point control.

What should I have these dials set at to run this properly. Is my problem likely to be just the coupler barrels worm out or a pressure relief somewhere or something I'm overlooking completely.

Right now it seems to be running fine.
That is likly to change...

Is the attachment valve set "closed center" to match the tractor, if NOT, there's going to be a LOT more oil pumping and heating.

The "piston" and "gear" on the adjustment knob affect how the lever detent works, The "piston" represents a hydraulic cylinder, for which the valve lever would "kick out" at the end of the cylinder's stroke, the "gear" represents a hydraulic motor.

If the lever is not "kicking out", where you have it set, that part is OK, otherwise try the outer setting.

As to the hoses popping out, either the hoses are tugging on them under certain conditions, or the male tips are worn where the retaining balls "grab", AND/OR, the $$$ Euro-made coupler barrels are worn out, NOT uncommon, unfortunately.

Well you have several things going on.

1) The hoses popping is caused by the Barrels being worn on the SCV valve. This is just the part where the hoses hook in. This is a common issue with the Mannheim SCV valves used on the 6000 series tractors. So you will need to replace those barrels that are popping the couplers out.

2) The second issue is the valve turning off when you use the external valve. You do not have the selector set correctly for an external valve. You need to have it turned to the symbol that looks like two gears(#3) running together. This is straight forward. I can not tell by your picture if your valve has this setting or not. They put three levels/quality of valves on the JD 6300 tractor. The lowest one does not have the flow all the time (gear symbol #3) setting.

*Is the valve on the mower a closed center valve??? IF not then you will need to change it.*

3) Flow control. The flow is controlled by the knob(#1) just in front of the function setting knob. How it works confuses some old JD fellows. This knob will turn 8-10 full turns in or out. You can really fine tune the flow. The old JD flow control knows only turned 3/4 of a turn. So fellows some times do not turn the knob enough turns to effect the flow much.

JD and Bob, Thank you for your replies.

After 45 min of running this afternoon I had them pop out a few more times. I think I will start first with changing the barrols out...they certainly could be worn out. Should I change the style to the more common Pioneer?

Thanks for the information on the dials. Yes I have them in the gear position and the lever will stay in place. I did not know the flow dial turned that much though.

I've been using this for several years without too much trouble so I assume the valve on the mower is closed centre like the tractor.

Just to make sure it wasn't a problem with the mower I switched it an put it on the 2755. Had to bungy the lever open to keep the oil flowing, but it worked fine for 3 hours.

Hopefully just the barrol adaptor change will help. I prefer using the 6300 as its a bit larger and feels more stable.

Thanks, Grant .... I'll post back next week and let you know how it works out.

There is not changing them to Quote "Pioneer couplers" They are ready are pioneer on the inside. These SCV valves have nothing in common with the older style that you can change the barrels to the newer style. The part number I have been using is AL200979 lists around $86 each.

These just thread into the valve.
