Not sure which is thicker tire or tube.

So I am replacing one of the front tires on my BA Farmall. The reason is most of the tire is as thin or thinner then the tube is. Most of the tread has peeled off and left just a thin tire that feel to be no thicker then the tube is. I just put it in the shop and air it up and do not hear or feel a leak but know it has to have one since it was flat. New tire will not be in till tomorrow. Seems those 4.00X15 front tractor tires are getting a bit hard to find and not cheap. I was told it will be $49 for just the tire so I hope the tube is not bad and or can be patched

You got them cheap. Mine were a no-name made in India. Almost twice that much. So far they are still round and hold air.

I think I'd be willing to trust "made-in-India" tractor tires. I mean, have you seen the way they overload their tractors and heavy trucks?? Can't count the number of broke-in-half equipment is posted on Youtube.

Incidentally, I doubt you could ever convince me their tractor frames are worth a garn.

Had to get a pair for my Super C w/wide front, more than $120.00 for a pair of 5.00 X 15's with new tubes-they mounted them on the rims I brought in. The tire shop guy wanted to know if I wanted them balanced. I know the guy was joking, I've known him for years, but I'm not sure his young mechanic figured it out. jal-SD

This price is tire only no tube no mounting. If I where to have them mount them and put in tube I am sure it would be $20 plus if not more so total could well be $70 or more but I do my own mounting etc. .

But how much of that was labor??? I do my own tractor tires and a new tube runs around $50 for say a 14.9X38 tube but it also depends on where you get them

I think the labor was only 20 or 30 dollars. I was only home in Nebraska for the weekend and didn't have time to order online and do it myself. I was expecting the tube to be 20 or 30 dollars...

I do not order on line I buy local. Latter today I will be going to town to pick up that 4.00X15 front tire and a new tube. Due to the tire being so thin the what was new tube has so many super small hole it in that I patch one just to find 2 more. I ordered the tire yesterday and it should be here today
