Biggar Albion Club Rally

A few photos from this side of the pond of the Albion Club vintage vehicle rally in Biggar in the Scottish Borders at the weekend. Some great old Albion trucks (made in Glasgow up to the 1960s and exported all over the world), a great turn out of vintage tractors of all sorts (142) as well as vintage cars, bikes, buses - you name it it was there! I had never seen a David Brown DB50D before - apparently only 1200 or there abouts ever made (1950s) - 6 cylinder diesel. Only 2 Deeres - one 'L' and one 'B'.

Great looking displays, and it appears that your weather was a bit like ours here in Alberta yesterday with the overcast. Not sure if you knew this but there is a town in Saskatchewan (next door to us here in Western Canada) by the name of Biggar. The town logo goes something like ...... "New York is big but this is Biggar." The link below will give you some more info .....
Biggar, Saskatchewan, Canada ......

Hi Jamstra, great rally you have there, allways been a fan of Albion lorries as I grew up near the A1 road just south of Newark. I was in Norfolk this last weekend at the Starting Handle Clubs rally at Marsham. I went to do the ring commentry for them and we took my wifes 1962 Fordson Dexta witch I had recently restored for her. MJ

Biggar in Scotland is renouned for the size of its 'New Year' bonfire, held right in the middle of the town centre - much to the horror of 'Health and Safety'. Known for its slogan of 'There's no bigger bonfire than the Biggar bonfire'

Thanks MJ - I had my restored MF 135 with me - had won 'Champion Vintage Tractor' at the Peebles Agricultural Show the day before - had a busy weekend!
