Daughter wants to be taller

We went to Old World Wisconsin last summer and my daughter really wanted the stilts they have there. We figured it would be a nice simple project for the fair as well.

Biggest problem is keeping them from trying them before the fair!

Before she see the stilts build a rack (as in mid-evil torture device) and tell her it may hurt a little but you can make her taller!........Keep in mind it's a joke, don't really use it!

I helped her make them. She's sworn to never touch sandpaper again!

My dad made a couple of sets of stilts out of wood when I was a kid. We played with them quite a bit until we had it mastered, and then not so much.

Those strap on aluminum ones the sheet rockers use would be just the ticket but I imagine they're a bit expensive.

There was an episode of the Andy Griffith Show where Barney needed to be taller for some reason to keep his job. They hung him from his chin in the closet using some contraption. As I recall Opie charged his buddies a nickle each to come over and see Barney hanging in the closet. I think it worked too. I think Barney grew an inch or few and kept his job.

Good luck,

Mark

Yep. He had a big chain around his neck too so he could make weight requirements.

I made a set when I was a kid, could use them pretty well after a time. One of the 2x2 had a knot in it and splintered on me eventually, moved
on to some other kid hobby but it was fun while I worked with it.

Nice job.
