Lucas gas treatment?

I use Kroger gas in truck only because I use Kroger fuel points.

I put some, 1 oz/3gal in 2007 GMC 6 cylinder, 100k, and it stopped idling rough.

I was always told gas additives is SNAKE OIL.

What's your opinion of Lucas gas treatment?

There are certain issues that any decent quality fuel treatment will rectify. Stay away from the the cheapos and the high dollar cure all's. All and all way too much is expected out of fuel treatments by the bulk of people who buy them. Obviously in your case it worked.

I use Power Services products and Sea Foam depending on the engine. In both cases money well spent. Proven results time after time. I love "snake oil".

I have been using seafoam about one a year as a cleaner and at lower rate for preservative. I have noticed a difference in my gator and lawnmower. Tractors not as much but they will run on about any old gas put in them.

George, I've always had good results from Lucas products. And may I add again, nice to see you back!

Lucas makes some good products. Haven't been disappointed with any of them.

As far as snake oil go's you can either pay extra at the pump for the oil companies to put it in or pay extra and do it yourself.

Please do the math. I can save dollar per gallon using Kroger fuel points. It only costs me 7 cents to treat a gallon with Lucas.

All gas has some detergent in it. 76 stations add more detergent than required by EPA.

The old saying a penny saved is a penny earned was true before someone invented income taxes.

I have to earn a buck to be able to spend $.70.

If I can save $70 buying Kroger gas each month, I've earned $100.

So a penny saved is more than a penny earned.

So what's your thought on Lucas not buying cheap gas?

I've actually never tried the Lucas gas treatment, but I have used the Lucas Hydraulic sealer/conditioner. Good stuff. But.....I sure like Seafoam added to my gas, just not every tank.

I use a lot of Lucas products and have no complaints. My wife got a hold Ford Focus(little 4 cylinder) to run around town with and it ran rough when she got it. So I put new wires and plugs in it and it helped some but then put pint of Lucas gas treatment in full tank of gas and after about 40 miles the engine smoothed out. I put several bottles in trunk and told her to add on every third fill up. I would also say Sea Foam is a very good product.

Its not SNAKE OIL...

I used Chevron Techron for years then switched over to BG k44, BG has a higher constraint for a better chance of an instant fix on a problem child, BG like Techron is recommended to be used once per oil change on a good runner are you stand the chance of contaminating the engine oil...

The byproducts of combustion has always been a problem and will continue to be a problem. Some vehicles seam to be more sensitive to it than others. I have fixed countless drivability issues and no starts were all systems were on go other than the cylinders and valves were gunked with carbon build up by injecting a high concentration of fuel system cleaner in the gas tank are directly into the throttle body are fuel rail...

Don't tell me its Snake oil! the good stuff anyways...

Guess who is paying for Lucas Stadium?

Eat at any restaurant in Indy and you'll get the answer. You are sending a 10% of your bill to pay for Stadium. That BITES.

Hobo is right, research cleaners that are high in P.E.A.'s. BG44k is a concentrated version of this detergent, along with Chevron Techron concentrate, redline complete and royal purple max clean. Lucas has PEA's but its not the best product out there. Some of these higher end products are also a better fuel stabilizer than products sold specifically for this purpose (stabil etc).

If you think seafoam is good, you need to try one of the products listed above, they are by far better than seafoam at least for fuel systems. P.E.A. detergents are what they use to blend top tier fuels.

I see that web site did not mention Amsoil's PI for gas engines. IT has between 25-60% P.E.A in it.

Your stuff, your money, your decision. Wink! That's why the shelves are full of different motor oils, filters, and snake oils.

Anybody notice that all the Lucas products are that same sticky-gooey brown liquid? I have to wonder if there is any difference, or if it's all the same stuff, just different labels...

I do notice a difference when I use Lucas in my truck. For the tank I add it to, I always get one MPG increase in fuel economy, but when I refill the next time it goes back to normal. That reminds me, I haven't done it yet. Need to get a bottle next time I'm somewhere that sells it.

Another product I like is Berryman's B12 Chemtool. It has fixed six engines so far that the small engine mechanics deemed as lost causes because the fuel systems were all melted by the evil ethanol. Just pour it in and run for a while.

I now buy the 4 gallon cases of Lucas & treat my vehicles about once a month.
I have a three cylinder diesel tractor that dropped a few hundred rpm ...... but after using the Lucas the fast setting went up a couple hundred.
The wife's van has the original sparkplugs at 170K miles so I guess I'll just keep using the treatment.
