first field of 2nd cutting is mowed

Finally got a weather guesser forecast for 3 to 4 days without rain so I mowed the first of 9 fields this morning (only about 3 acres). Sure was nice, just me and God out there on the tractor at 8:00 this morning. Everything worked as it should with nothing going wrong. No church but I personally think it was a lot better. I have never been one to work on Sunday if I can help it and I'm not a religious person, but the sun was coming over the hill and it was sure great. Now if it will just dry without rain on it I'll know he wanted me to get it done. Keith

Same here did some second cutting yesterday about 2 weeks later than usual. Our preacher was still working on some of his first cutting 3 weeks ago.

I often walk my pasture fields early in the morning on Sundays. I know there is a higher power. You just have to look around to see how it is so. The great outdoors is truly God's church.

As I have gotten older I believe less and less in organized religion. All of it is warped by man's personal views/leanings. Also most all of it is corrupted to some level or another. The older and biggest organized religions are the worse/corrupt.

So I say time in God's house is better than any church man built.

Yesterday I saw someone doing there first cutting of hay and the filed looked bad but we are in drought conditions. I'll get lucky if I get a 2nd cutting but the weather guessers are saying for the next 7 day we have a chance of rain but I'll only believe it when I see it

?The older and biggest organized religions are the worst/corrupt?. ??
Please explain?
How do you justify this statement?? Any proof???

JD Seller the comment on your Sunday morning walks is spot on.However your statement that the oldest and most organized religions are the most corrupt simply isn't true, think about all the modern day televangelist's.True the "oldest and most organized religion" has it's scandals. That is because of sin...both personal and collective. That's why Christ established the Church,to make sinners into saints. It was saintly people in the Church who established ogranizations that care for the poor and infirm.Established hospitals and orphanages, schools and even the modern day university system.Think about all the hospitals, schools and universities that have "Saint" in it's name in this country let alone the world. From the time of Christ down to the present age the Church has been there guiding mankind to the truth and ultimately to heaven our true home.
God bless you

Paul

Cmore: One of the oldest ones is the Catholic Church. Study the history of Europe and see how the Popes of the past ruled like Kings not men of God. Conquest and riches motivating them over God. Then come to modern times the pedophile issue that the Church tried to sweep under the rug. Abuse of the youngest members of the Church. How did the Church respond???? Duck and cover. Hide it, move the Priests around and then blame the victims if they tried to speak out. Look at how the Church treated the Nuns too. They have basically been slave labor for the Church and Priests.

My first Wife was born and raised Catholic. She was very devote to the Church. It broke her faith when several of the local Diocese leaders where shown to have known and hid several priests that had abused boys. She personally knew two of these leaders. The fact that the Church looking bad was more important than protecting and caring for the abuse victims shook her faith to its core. The last 3 years of her life we went to an non Catholic church.

On other churches, look at how MONEY has became the focus of most of the others. HUGE fancy churches and serious coin spent by the Leaders of these churches on house/cars/etc. I do not remember reading of how Jesus as materialist in any way.

I think this is why your seeing a raise in independent churches in the US. Many are seeing how the larger the organization is the more it gets side tracked over money. So a church that only has local leadership is becoming more attractive to many.

As I have gotten older I get tired of it being "All about the money".

After my wife died I actually had a minister and priest asked me if my wife had left anything to any churches. Yes sir they really worried about supporting my kids and I as long as we where paying for the service. Asked around and see how many elderly are pushed towards "giving" to churches. It is not uncommon.

JD, I totally agree with you. Money, big "country club" churches, TV money grubbers all have a part in corrupting God's message. How about the 1 TV guy who was asking for money because "God wanted him to have new, bigger, and faster airplane". The Catholic Church is the largest here in this area of SE TX. They do support some things but with only about 10% of the money they raise. The rest disappears to the hierarchy of the church.

More than 2,000 years and still going strong.
Must be doing something right.
And how many hospitals schools and colleges have your small, independent
?Local? churches started??

As Don Williams said in his song " I Believe ".
I don't believe that heaven waits for only those who congregate.

Keith, I can show you in your Bible where it says that he wanted you in church. Being religious won't hurt you. It can even save you from a bad ending.

Thanks. You said it way better than I could. We have started mowing our 3rd cutting of Alfalfa. Also finished our first cutting of just grass which will get round baled tuesday. Alfalfa should bale tomorrow evening, into small squares.Just have 7 acres down.

Hebrews 10:25 does state: not giving up on meeting together as some are in the habit of doing but encouraging one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching. So yes God does desire that we gather for the purpose of corporate worship. Sure the church has a lot of faults due to mans sin and imperfections but that should not prevent us from doing as instructed in the passage above. Anyways glad you had a great Sunday morning mowing hay in your part of God's creation.

Cmore: The Catholic Church is having trouble now that the members are getting more educated. The Church's main strong holds over the world are often third world countries with largely uneducated populations. Some of their doctrines fly in the face of common sense. One being birth control. Another being the celibacy rules with Priest. That is pure Propel degree. They were about to marry until the mid ages. So a lot of this is making it harder for a thinking person to blindly follow a Church or any order.

Yes there are a lot of colleges, orphanages, and hospitals that where started by the Catholic Church. I am not damning everyone or everything the Church has done.

I am just saying that when you get very far past the local Leadership it gets materialistic real quickly. The local rural Churches are closing in this area. The population has moved. Some of the town Churches need expanded to handle more people. The local one here is doing that right now. About million dollar deal. ZERO money from the Arch Diocese. Three country churches have been close and sold off. 4-5 farms in the area donated to the local church then sold. All that money went up the ladder but none back down to the Church that is left. So it is kind of like sending your money to Washington DC.

Cmore: I would guess your Catholic and still have loads of faith in your Church. I am glad for you. I guess I am getting old and cynical in that I just see more bad then good in a lot of the Churches. One of my OLDEST friends is one of the local Catholic Priests. We just have to agree to disagree. LOL I will say you and I will just have to do the same thing.

Have a good week Cmore

My wife and I were both raised Catholic but hadn't been to church in a while. When we tried to go back several years ago they were the most unwelcoming people that we ever met.Not one person said greeted us or even said hello she made it a point to talk to the priest and he blew her off,we went twice and that was it.A friend of mine had ask me to go to a Methodist church they had move since but when we went they were the most welcoming people that we had ever met.Been going there ever since

Do you read your Don Willams Bible regularly?

Wow! This thread when from mowing hay to a debate on religion, anyone want to throw in politics.

I believe in God, I have my own political opinions.
I'd rather be mowing hay and talking about hay than debating ether of the other.

Wow! I'll bet that you even like apple pie.

It was not intended to be a religious debate, just felt good so I thought I'd post it. If I offended anyone I'm sorry. Guess I'll just keep it to myself next time. Keith

As a matter of fact I do like apple pie, but pumpkin is my favorite.

Keith keep posting, I enjoyed the read, looked at my fields yesterday and planed to start mowing today, but weather forecast is for 40 precent + chances of rain for the next 8 days.
I think he's telling me to wait.
