Got my 5 acres harvested a week ago.

Mine is either going to my cattle or hopefully works out for the neighbor, raises a couple of hogs and heard it makes nicer, whiter tallow/lard/fat if they get barely instead of corn. We will see.

Kinda fun to plant something different, everything else was miserable down here this year, got that planted on some newly tiled ground, and it yielded low and tests low but for the rest of the crops, it's my highlight, something interesting. Was way too late planting it and couldn't get any fert on it with the endless rains.

SVCummins are you anywhere close to Brainerd,MN I will be up there this week for the NHRA drag races if you have time I would like to visit for a short time I grew up on a farm back in the 50s we never hand a self propelled combine I had to ride the old AC combine and tie and change the sacks I was 13-14 years old and could barely kick the old burlap sacks off the combine.

I wish I was it would be nice to actually meet someone from this page but I?m on the other side of the country

I thought I wanted to combine. Bought an old JD 95 diesel and restored it mechanically (learned to repair numerous types of hydraulic cylinders) and used it for awhile. Then found a MF 670 diesel, cab had AC....yesssss. Only thing MF needed was a new drive belt. Both had 24' headers. Gotta say that some of my best days trying to be a farmer were running the 670. Just something about what you see in your pictures that you thoughtfully shared with us that sticks with you.

Thanks.

We used to raise barley for the hogs. We would soak it for 3 days in 55 gallon barrels. It would swell up and start to ferment, and the hogs would kill for it. They'd act like they were drunk. If you got any of it on your hands, you had to wear the smell off. The old timers said you couldn't feed it dry because it would swell in their stomachs - I don't know if that story was true - never tried it of course.

I just love combines even though they are hot and itchy there?s nothing better than watching that grain go from standing to clean grain rolling in the bin
