Ford 640 Fenders Repair or replace?

Should I repair these fenders on the FORD 640 or replace them? Top fender (left on tractor) has some rust through spots. The right one is just bent and I can straighten that one.

Cheap ones are $90 with no bracket and $155 with the bracket. The $250 raised script ones like these are too pricey for me.

If the opinion is to replace should I go with the bracketed one or just replace the skin as the old brackets are good, I just don't know how hard they are to change.

I was going to go through the tractor and stop the major leaks, replace a radiator, fix the lift and spiff it up a bit. Does not have to be the best.

A lot depends on your ability and what end result you are looking for.

I would be hesitant to buy the aftermarket without knowing the metal gauge.

Those don't look all that bad. Some welding, beating, grinding, Bondo and paint would make them look good!

Ability= OK I can do about anything, I just seem to be slow about it. I don't mind putting in the work.

End result= Needs to look better than what it is now.

These fenders are pretty thick. The bent one needs to be taken off and coaxed with a big hammer.

Those Hundred Series fenders are NLA and not
being repopped as far as I know. So if you
want 'original' you'll need to repair those.
Repops of the 01 through the Prior thousand
series fenders are available. They do have
the script stamped in them but are pricey as
you have seen. They wouldn't be "correct" on
a Hundred either if that matters.
If all that correctness doesn't matter you
can just get the non script ones for like a
3000. I have bought them from YT a couple of
times and they are good, heavy fenders.
Any of the smaller Ford fenders will bolt on
and work on your 640. From the 9N/8N ones
all the way through the 3600s. Where they
bolt to the axle is all the same though if
you are running 13.6x28 tires the N fenders
will be a little short. I ran N fenders on
my 3000 for about 10 years with 12.4s on it.
They were fine.
Photo shows them on my tractor.
Since that photo was taken I found a nice
set of Brit fenders with the wide step
plates and swapped the N fenders out.

As UD said I don't think they are repopping them for the 600/800 series. So because of the way the fender rolls over on the top if you order new fenders your brackets might not fit them. I have a few
sets and even a set for the 900 series and none look as good as yours. I would say fix em.

The repops of the originals are available now without bracket for $250.00. I repaired a pair of fenders for my 901 a few years ago and it got into a lot of time. For what you are looking to do I think that you would be best off to get the new cheap ones and cut the old ones off your brackets, and then bolt the new ones on with carriage bolts.
