Don't you just hate it

when you run the fuel tank over?? My dad always chewed us out when we forgot to watch it (gravity fed)...but then I remember him doing it also, back when farm diesel was 15 cents a gallon. I have no excuse, I was using a 5 gallon can...topping off the 175D after $410 of brush hogging today and I thought it would take more than that.

I can't see the level in the Kubota tank very well (its dark colored)- so I leave the ignition switch on, and watch the fuel gauge. Not foolproof, but better than nothing.

Sometimes I have to drain the excess fuel out of my tractor at the end
of the day dang tank just keeps filling up on me 🤔. But the rare
times I do have to put fuel in I have ran over the tractor tank over a
few times not to many. my bulk tank is a 100 gallon with an old gas
boy pump it moves about 5 gallon A minute so It doesn?t move fuel
very fast .

Reminds me of a story an older friend of mine told once. When he was a kid the nieghbor bought a new VW bug he'd sneak over every night and top off the tank. The neighbor went around town bragging how great the fuel mileage was. Til one day the guy took it into a shop, then after that my friend went over every night and drained a litle off. Poor neighbor wanted to fight with the shop owner. Old story take it for what its worth.

Heck those things make enough diesel in a days running I can sell it off to the neighbors 😂😂

Diesel here in Ontario is $1.30 a litre, no one has
any problems with running the tank over. Running
empty.... well maybe. I had a IH M that tractor used
to near wear me out . By the end of the day , I?d be
dog tired carrying gas to that old guts .

Years ago an uncle had fire damage to a tractor and corn picker when fuel spilled over a hot tractor.

I always seem to do it on chainsaws, lawn tractor, snowblower, etc. Trying to get that last little bit in. What I really hate is the oddly shaped plastic tanks that have the air bleeder, pour a drop in and wait.

Dang, I should of sold my Deere 5525 and 6100D to you...maybe you could have worked your magic on them. They used 3 times the fuel as this tractor :-(

I need to put a Perkins in my Chevy....it burns more diesel in a day than my tractor does! Pic of me at the bank LOL!

Hate it when that happens also. Since we put the pump in it doen't happen very often now. Auto shut off nozzles help prevent that. The combine is the worst for that though.

Had a friend call me up just after he purchased his first chainsaw and he wanted to know any tips or tricks I could share with him.

I told him always fill the oil tank before the gas tank.

He asked me why.

I told him that when you overfill the oil and get it all over the side of the saw it will get rinsed off when you overfill the gas and get it all over the side of the saw.

That's rubbish he said and he was sure he would not have a problem filling it properly.

Talked to him a week later after he had a chance to use the saw he was laughing and said dang you were right even with my glasses on I could not stop the pour in time.
