Tractor chocking out

Have a IH 424 gas that is giving me fits. will run ok for a couple of minutes, and then start acting like it's over fueling. Smokes and chokes down. Changed plugs, points, condenser, coil. Still not getting the best spark, but after a few minutes it will start again and repeat the whole process again. Don't see a good consistant fire in the distributor, but get spark on plug checker.
Thanks in advance,
Daryl

Try a test run with the air filter hose off the carb.

If that fixes it, assume there is a restriction in the air filter.

If it still does it, watch the carb for fuel running out the air horn when it quits. A few drops is acceptable, but dripping after it shuts down indicates the carb is flooding. Could be trash in the needle/seat, worn needle, loose or worn seat, sunk, bent or miss adjusted float.

These guys are better at diagnosis than I am, but I had similar problems with my MF65 gas yesterday. Stopped, drained
the sediment bowl, problem solved. I am assuming i had a little water in the tank, settled to the bottom when the
tractor was parked. Died 3 times, then ran for 3 hours mowing after the bowl was emptied and cleaned.

THANKS SO MUCH!!! PTL it was the air supply. I really feel stupid.
I had blown the filter out a couple of times and didn't get much. Didn't think about running it without the air line attached.
