Purple paint on fence posts

Agree great idea. Can't believe Indiana passed a law that makes sense. Glad they did. Now deer have no excuse trespassing unless they are color blind.

In Wisconsin you don't need any signage or painted post. It you enter someone else's property You are considered a trespasser and can be fined.

Always has to be some that just can't adopt a "standard".

Read up on the requirements in your state on the paint.
The laws generally address what shade, minimum size of area painted, min. and max. height, spacing between painted posts or trees, etc.

By law, all land in Alabama is considered posted. Don?t know anything about the purple paint here and never seen anything painted purple in rural areas. Too many game cameras around here now, just about every night my wife shows me pics posted on Facebook that folks are posting wanting to know if anybody can identify the trespassers. A person has to be dumb as a brick these days to venture off on property they don?t have permission to be on...

This is the first I've heard of this. How is it intended to work if no one is aware of it? Does that imply that everyone is free to enter anywhere that no purple fence posts are visible? I'll stick with my No Trespassing signs, most people over eight years old can read and comprehend what those say.

So now, everyone will be painting their fence posts with purple paint, but only those few who read this forum will know that it is supposed to mean something. Makes perfect sense to me.

You can't walk down main street naked just because there are no signs against it can you?
Why is it people think that land not posted with signs against entering means you can enter?

No different then most other laws on the books.
The offender does not know they are breaking any law until they are arrested.
Happens everyday.

This purple paint law is coming into favor because trespassers commonly tear down signs. Then when caught claim "but no signs officer"

Wisconsins trespassing law makes more sense. No signs and no paint code. You cross any fence without permission you're trespassing.

Apparently they use purple paint so that people can't claim to be colorblind to it and say they didn't see the colored post. HOWEVER, I've been doing some reading on color blindness ..... apparently purple (or certain shades of purple, violet, etc) is the most unlikely color to be colorblind to ...... but there are some people that are. Very rare but still a possibility.

Agreed. Just like its illegal to walk into someone's home just because the door isn't locked.

Couple years back, the land just down the road from me suddenly had purple posts. The owner has a heart condition, so I didn't figure he'd painted them, so I called him. Nope, wasn't him doing the painting. His land is near a housing development, and they were upset about people hunting near them. Some one from the development decided to just go ahead and paint the posts.
We have a lot of land here that is WIHA, privately owned, but open to the public to hunt. I understand there has been quite a bit of PETAphile abuse of the purple paint laws.

Louisiana took out the section in the law that required paint or sign markers.
You do not have permission to be on land you do not own; you are trespassing.

If you can't identify who they are, how dumb are they? Most of the time you can't, and even if you can, they will have some excuse like they got lost or didn't see the signs...

Let's say they bow their head in shame, and admit to trespassing... What'll happen to them? Probably nothing. Worst case, a ticket. These are the ones you've got to watch for too, because they'll be back on your property the next day if the mood suits them.

Not all communities or towns have laws or ordinances pertaining to walking down the street naked. They cannot arrest you, because you have not broken any law.

Yes, but the ones where there is a law against it do not have a sign posted telling you there is a law against it either.

Your statement can also be true, but I guarantee that you will be arrested and hauled off to jail for [i:10fafa9684]something[/i:10fafa9684].

You will instead get pinched for disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, creating a public disturbance, etc. you know they will find something.

I was once a trucker. Believe me, if they want to find something wrong, they will, and it probably will be legitimate.
