PTO stub shaft

Hello men, anybody out there know where I can get the stub shaft for a farmhand loader PTO driven pump. This is the short 540 pto shaft that slides into the back of the PTO pump so you can run an implement without pulling the pump. Some guys have said it is a short shaft with a bolt in the center that when tightened locks the shaft to the female 540 splines in the pump. I tried using the long PTO extenders that HH sells, they would work if they were hardened. Apparently the only manufacture that makes these shafts is in India and they do not harden them so they bend and twist like butter. They literally will twist when you are running an implement with no load. I have gone through 4 of them and they all twist and bend. A few other guys have posted the same problem. There is a long 15 inch Gresen pump adaptor shaft that will work if anyone has an old one that was hardened. Any help would be appreciated from the experts. Thank you in advance. Nick

The problem isn?t so much the quality of the shaft as it is the length of the hitch and geometry for a 540 implement you should have 14 inches from the end of the pto shaft to the draw bar pin hole you can get away with less but With that big pump you?re losing about a foot of distance and that is just to much . I ran an Indian 1000 to 540 adapter on my 855 new Holland baler on 110 hp tractor and never had a problem

Hmm. it all looks right and it is not that far from the hitch. I have always kept everything straight as to not bind. I put a file on the new shaft and then tested to the end of my pto shaft, the extender the file cut easily on one stroke, my PTO shaft the file just bounced over it.

I would measure from the end of the shaft coming out of the to the drawbar hole and see what you have my guess is you?ve lost about 10 Inches

Contact Hub City in South Dakota and see where you nearest dealer is. I used to sell Hub City and they were top quality. Here is web address http://www.hubcityinc.com/

That is way to much without issuing a hitch extension. I?ve gotten away with 4 inches or so a lot of times but 11.58 you?ll never keep it from bending and If you do it?ll just move the problem one way or the other down the drive line
