Dremeltool quitsI

I was using my dremel tool tonight to do some light sanding when it just quit running. I tried the speed control no go What is wrong. I was doing a tractor part at the time.

Mine quit two years ago so I picked a new one up, then the old one started working again so the new one is still in its box.

Mine has brushes installed through the sides, under plastic
screw-in caps. If one of the caps comes loose it will quit.
Pushing on them or turning them in a tad brings it back to life.

I used mine alot and eventually. It quit. Put brushes in it as the old ones were worn short.

I've still got my original Dremel (variable speed) that I bought nearly 30 years ago. Is a little noisy, but still works great. I'm betting the brushes are getting thin!

If you use yours a lot or are hard on tools, you might wanna look into an air-powered unit that takes the 1/8" shank bits, or maybe go to a larger 1/4" die grinder.

As has been suggested, check the brushes, probably all that is wrong with it.

I think I have at least 5 Dremel rotary tools, same reason I have 5 angle grinders and 3 drills. I dislike changing bits/accessories. Oldest one was bought in 1976 and still works. It has a cut-off wheel, great for hard to reach cotter pins.

I bought one for a small job,, it was worthless for metal work so it sits in the box tot his day never used again,, I went and bought a couple air die grinds and the tools for them Those WORK lol to me the dremel is only good for hobby work

Probably brushes, bought mine in 1973 at Monkey Wards. Says Wards on it but looks just like Dremel did back then.
