How can I hook up an antenna and watch my local stations. Somehow the TV has to be programmed.

Any experts out there in farmland??????

If your TV is a 2006 or newer model, it is ready to receive digital signal.

If older you will need a converter box.

Once the antenna is connected and aimed toward the broadcast tower, the TV will need to be put in "scan" mode (unless it's really old and has an analog tuner, then just set to any available channel). The scan mode is usually found under menu. Once you find it, it will be pretty much self explanatory, just follow the prompts.

If you can't find it, try searching for the owners manual online by the make and model. It will walk you through.

What Steve said.

Also try to position your antenna as high as possible and aim it in general direction of broadcast towers/tv stations. It'll grab as many channels as it can.

I did that very thing a couple of years ago. My wife figured it out. I can't explain it.

Hooking up an antenna is the same as it always has been: stick the wire in the hole where it fits, and righty-tighty.

Programming isn't difficult either but if you convince yourself that it's complicated and you can't do it, then you will prove yourself right. Most TVs made in the last 10 years have "auto program" but you have to find it in the menu. Fresh batteries in the remote, point the remote AT the TV, FIRMLY press buttons ONCE, and READ what is on the screen in front of you instead of throwing up your hands and saying "too complicated."

If you have not yet done so, go here and enter zip code. It will tell you which direction the majority of transmitters are located.
Or where the stations you want to pick up are located.
