Part Return, What the Heck?

The water pump went out on my Perkins powered skid loader.
I ordered and new pump from a place in Indianapolis, In. so I could have it in 2 days. On Line purchase.
I got it in 2 days but it had a return label for City of Industry, Ca.
I know it didn't come from there, 5 days is the quickest I've ever got stuff from Ca.

After installing it the pump was so noisy you could hear it buzzing over to sound of that Perkins diesel. This pump is driven by the injection pump gear inside the timing gear case.
After removing the pump and inspecting it the drive gear has some very rough machining groves in it, afraid this could damage the injection pump gear I notified them that I wanted to return the pump.

I received conformation this morning to return the pump.

To Hengzohou City, China!

What the H---, I ordered it from Indianapolis.
Haven't found out what it's going to cost to sent it to China, probably a big portion of what I gave for it.

I would be returning it to who sold it.
If they want to return it to some where else, that is up to them.

Unless it is clearly stated on the website that any returns will have to go to the other side of the planet, etc.

The companies on line name is Powertool2016-7 with a Indianapolis location listed, no street address.
I sent the return request the them, or so I thought.
I received a E-mail with the China return address.
I have no other way to contact them.

I'm sure I've been burned.

(quoted from post at 11:50:09 07/16/18) That high quality stuff costs $$$.(LOL)

I don't mind paying for quality and actually avoided some of the cheaper stuff, but I don't mind paying less for a possible rebuild water pump verses big bucks for new.
Site didn't say if it was a new off shore part or reman.
My mistake for not researching farther.

I've e-mailed a Perkins labeled company to make sure they are legit before ordering one from them.

googling "Powertool2016-7" shows that seller as being on ebay.
Did you buy it via ebay or another website?
If yes, contact ebay with your dilemma.

Can't find a website for just "Powertool2016-7".

So it’s going back to China where it will be trash canned without being inspected. No machining improvements will be made to assure the next gears will be smoother. They will just keep on puking out the same old stuff. Heck of it is, you might get the same old roughly machined stuff from the dealer any more but at least you will have a dealer to return the part to.

If you bought through eBay contact them now. Well, first find out the return cost. Should be easy to do on the USPS web site. The contact eBay and state your case. Do it via the eBay site, not email or phone, you'll need the record.

Yes eBay site
All correspondence has been through eBay.
Ebay is aware and willing to help
I feel good about getting my $ refunded, I just figure it'll cost me a good part of that refund to ship the pump back to China.

Drop shipping is common online. I found out that a company I was looking to buy a used car engine from online was just an office in a big office building, not a yard at all. They were simply being a middle man and taking orders from customers and having the engine shipped from any real yard they could locate it at. Problems come in when there is defective engines, shipping damage or returns. Thankfully I read online reviews before pulling the trigger.

Regardless of the out come there will be some negative feed back left on this one.
I left some slow shippers neutral feed back before but this will be my first negative feed back.

(quoted from post at 14:54:47 07/16/18) eBay will probably not require you to ship to China if you push for it.

Thanks for that suggestion, I'll contact eBay and see what they say.

Take a screen shot of the Indianapolis origin. As well as the rest of the ebay page especially when there is no mention of coming from anywhere but Indianapolis.

I forgot to add: Ebay has a policy that returns can only be sent to the ship from location. If this escalates to the need for a phone call, be sure to ask for a 'trust and safety rep'. Don't settle for the normal call takers. Ebay has a special group to handle this sort of nonsense.

Once a return show up in China (which I doubt even happens), I'm guessing they pile them all in a huge heap and every few months they burn the pile. I don't
think a returned item to China could possible make it back to the factory. And if it did, can you imagine the guy in the returned shipping department saying to
his buddy something like ....... "Hey look, another one of these sent back. I wonder what it is?"

Don't send it to China. Contact seller and tell them you will return it to address it was shipped from and leave negative feedback if you are not given a refund.

Heard from eBay, they have a policy that if it ships in the US it must to able to be returned in the US.
I'll be contacting them again tomorrow to get this straightened out.
They didn't even supply me with the return label their required to, their message said for me to buy a label from the shipping company.

Weather it's resolved or not some bad feed back will be left at the appropriate time.

Scam. Americans are stupid. The seller knew exactly what s/he was doing. I just went through this. Seller admitted in email they sent me the wrong item but it would cost them too much for the return. You keep and we give you $10. Very very sorry good friend. Ebay sided with the seller and continued to allow the seller to offer for sale the item they didn't have. After a month of playing games I protested the charge to my charge card and got a refund. Send your emails through ebay. Get the seller to admit as much as you can in writing then protest the charge. As it stands, you should have enough. Ordered from IN, return address CA, ship back to China. Work the seller for more admissions then teach them a lesson. You're going to have to order a new pump from someone else and wait for the refund.

(quoted from post at 21:12:48 07/16/18) Maybe cheaper to have local tool and diemaker polish that gear?

Just curious here, because I've seen similar suggestions on the internet before; do you personally know of a tool and die maker that takes in work? I ask this because in my entire life I've never seen or heard of a person that could do toolmaker type jobs on the fly for individuals. Every tool and die maker I've ever met works for a big company and is not in a position to do small jobs for people off the street.

This! I have never had to physically return anything at all, even t-shirts from Amazon that were too small. The seller likely doesn't want it back so they will mark the sale as returned, but won't make you ship it.

while you are waiting to deal with eebbbay and the seller contact your credit card company and ask them what the policy is to dispute the charges. its actually pretty easy but you may have to have some proof you tried to return or cancel it.

like you tried to return but the seller didn't follow ebbay rules ect ect.

you have protections with Credit cards.

with our bank we've disputed a charge as "not received" for an item we bought after 30 days. the bank put the funds back into our account and the seller had 30 days to prove us wrong. if they didn't or couldn't the refund is permanent. if they did prove that they were not wrong we would get the charge again.

Ordered a water pump from a Perkins dealer 175 miles away today, they said I should get it tomorrow

Sent the eBay seller a message requesting a address for a US location I could send the pump back to, waiting for their answer before filing a complaint with eBay.

NOW For The Kicker!
I just found out Perkins as a supply warehouse only 45 miles from me.
I could have drove there and got the pump a week ago. :x
