I like to trade while I can get the best trade value.
The best low hour tractors are in hot demand, and
don?t stay on the market long. My 50 year old
tractors won?t likely ever leave the farm because
they can do more work for me than their trade value
will ever be . With a late model tractor , if you keep it
much past 5 years, it?s trade value starts to drop like
a rock.

Ya but once they reach a certain age the price stabilizes and you can usually get what you paid several years later. Example. 10 years ago I bought a Ford 3000 with loader for 4 grand and I could sell it today for the same 4 grand.

True. And, in the case of the tractors I'm looking for (especially when you get into the Waterloo machines), they're selling now for what they sold for new.

People tend to forget about economics. A tractor I am bushoging with today cost my dad $2500 in 1960 but it’s worth $5000 today. Has it doubled in value? Judging by inflation it has probably devalued by 800%.
