Hooked up the loader pressure gauge

At empty it's just under 5000 kpa (more numbers to
choose from pin pointing estimated weight). A
bucket full of 44% DM haylage brings it just under
10 000 and the same size bucket of 33% DM corn
silage brings it to 11 300 at the same static loader
height. Going to load it with feed bags and bring it to
those pressures to get an appropriate weight of
each feed so I can keep a lot closer to the right feed
ratio and also monitor feed delivery to the bunk
instead of guessing. I hate an empty feed bunk and
also hate a lot of leftover waste. Thank you guys
again for the advice!

With a little practice you will get close. Just make sure you roll the bucket back all the way and get to that same place. We have fitted a few KUBOTA loaders and looks like you used about the same gauge we used.

Nice to see you used a liquid filled gauge. They weather very well till somebody wacks it. Nice fun project.

Once you get the hang of it you will be a pro. We use the air gauges on trucks to load grain to the proper weight. There is some discrepancy depending if the truck is pointed uphill or down but it works pretty good.

Used the feed bag calibration method yesterday, there's 1650 pounds of silage in the bucket when the gauge shows 11 000 kpa. Using a blended moisture of 38.5% there's roughly 635 pounds of dry matter in each bucket. I was normally trying to get 5 buckets a day into 65 cows. My math says 3-4 is enough provided they eat all of it at a minimum of 30 pounds DM per cow. No wonder they rarely cleaned it up.
